Wouldn't regard either of them as genuine negating players but there you go. Happy to be enlightened with all the high profile 'scalps' they've claimed.
Scott Selwood would be perfect, bonus is he can also win his fair share of the ball while also negating.

Yep Selwood would be a good get IMO. If we manage to land Shiel and a gem or two in the draft we're not looking too shabby going forward.

Shiel or Danger has to be the priority.

SHIEL AND DANGER and as long as we kick straight in the prelim I think it makes us a big chance to snag a flag before GWS start coming.

I like Scott Selwood. He should have always been ours.

Damn Wallace and his McMahon Love.
Gotta love Wallace's reasoning behind it too.

We were going to use pick 35, Miller went behind Wallace's back and used that on Morton. So, not to offend the Dogs, we used pick 19 instead....

Lol pretty sure that's not what happened.

We had already committed to the trade but then we lost the pick in the Morton deal so in order to get it done we were locked into giving pick 19.

I'm sure Wallace said it on Trade Radio that he had no idea pick 35 was going to be used on Morton.

Surely we could have asked the Dogs for their 3rd rounder and McMahon, instead of overpaying with 19.

Think you misunderstood. Don't think he knew but because we had already committed 35 what happened was we were forced to give up 19.

It was a MAJOR STUFF UP.

But we didn't do it due to being good blokes.

Anyway who cares.....

HOW ARE WE GOING TO TRADE FOR SHIEL IS THE BIG QUESTION???

Say we finish with pick 10....that won't be near enough.

Pick 10 + Pick 28

GWS might think they don't need picks anymore, they might want ready to go players.

It may have to be a 3-way deal, ie. Henderson to GWS, Pick 10 to Blues, Shiel to Tigers plus a few sweeteners thrown in.

What trade currency do we have? Astbury? Vickery? Conca?

Selwood's a hack. I know Eagles fans who will be very happy to get even a third-round pick for him.

Trading for Shiel IS the big question. Our first pick will definitely be involved. Hopefully Vickery goes on with it from Sunday, if so I wouldn't trade him. I see he and Griff taking over from Ivan soon enough. I wouldn't trade Conca because we need more midfielders and he is a good one.

If they bring in trading future picks we'll offer this year's and next year's first-rounders for Shiel and possibly someone like Haynes or Buntine.

Has anyone ventured over to the saints board and read there trade and list management page. Quality read. I thought this page got pretty delusional at times, but theres is side splitting.

Disagree on Selwood, obviously struggled with injury over the last 2 years but at his best (2011-2013) he averaged 22.7 disposals 16.5 effective disposals(73% efficiency) 3.9 marks 6.8 tackles 9.7 contested possessions 4.8 clearances over 67 games. Now I know stats don't always tell the full story, but when you are performing at a level like that for 3 years winning a B&F along the way you're far from a hack. Selwood IMO would be the type of player that our midfield is missing right now. The guy who is at the bottom of packs winning the hard ball and feeding it out to the likes of Cotchin and Martin to allow them to work more on the outside. Adding him for nothing but cap/list space and getting Shiel would instantly improve our midfield, especially if we didn't lose anyone else along the way.

Blah blah blah. He's shit.
In what way Is he shit?

He's a fierce competitor like his brothers. He wins his own ball. Has good skills. Can tag a gun and get his own ball. Kicks goals. Great tackler. Has leadership ability.

Guys we don't need Scott Selwood, tell me in what way is he any different to (or better than?) Miles, Dusty, the emerging Corey Ellis? Once again it would be a case of us taking another "samey" type player. If we want an inside player like him we have Miles who right now is miles (pun not intended) ahead of him. Selwood can't even get on the park either... If we want an inside player, what we need is a bigger specimen of the Jobe Watson, Andrew Swallow, Jack Ziebell ilk. I would take Joel in a heartbeat, but Scott ain't the same player.

Shiel is the player we need. A two-way running highly skilled midfielder who can win his own ball, get it plenty on the outside, tackle, and kick goals.
If we can somehow add another contested inside beast too, we will be well on track.

But look if we get Selwood for nothing he may well improve the 22 a little, but with Shiel too would there even be a place for Selwood in the best 22?
