Head up big fella, your time will come. Go away this summer and work on your hand and foot skills, smash your fitness like no-one else and come back a bigger and better footy player, can only do you good.

Give it up for Blakey, put a solid effort all year, he will be a great player for us in the not so distant future.

Hope he reads this thread and sees that we all think he is a good player for the Cats and we wish him all the best even though he missed out.

Mark Blake has had a terrific year. Many still had question marks over him at he start of the year but for the majority he has filled the role as the number 2 Ruckman very well showing continual improvement as the year progressed. His tap ruck work is generally very good and he puts in 100% every game he plays. His improvement has been rapid and his day as being our No 1 Ruckman should come.

But Blake needs to work on a few more things. He needs to bulk up his body a bit more because he is still a little too lite for a big man. He also needs to continue to work on his kicking and handballing skills. These have improved a lot this year but he still has a way to go. To be a top ruckman we need him to be able to play up forward and kick a few goals now and then or go down back and take a few marks.

In many ways Blake deserved to play in the GF and we are all very disappointed for him. But a player of his ability will get his chance another day.

U've had an awesome year Blakey nothing changes that fact.. i feel for you but believe you have a huge future with our club... come back bigger & better next year :thumbsu:

The bloke should be given a medal if we win.

He is one of the reasons we finished on top and are in the GF. He has played a brilliant foil to brad ottens all year.

chin up Blakey, you are the future of this club.

Possibly the most improved player from the cats this year. His two goals were the highlight of the home and away season for me.

Lets put it in perspective, 22 games including 3 finals is a fantastic effort for a ruckmen drafted in 2003. Guys like Hale (pick 7 2001) and Laycock (pick 10 2002) are only just starting to make it. His year has even been on par with McIntosh's (pick 9 2002) 2006.

Work your butt off in preseason, gain a few kilo's in the weights room and tighten up your kicking Blakey. If you do that you are capable of anything.

Well done to Mark Blake this season. Has been a big part of our resurgence as an even four quarter side with few if any weaknesses. Age was the only thing really in the end that counted against what was a stellar breakthrough season for him. At 22 that is still quite young when you are talking about finals and the likes of Brogan and Lade.

We all feel sorry for the guy but genuinely looking forward to seeing Mark's further development in the next few seasons at Geelong. All being well another premiership opportunity will certainly beckon in that time.

ur a star blakey, cop this one on the chin and im sure ur time will come one day
Certainly not trying to stip up trouble, and agree Blake is very stiff not to get a game.. King hasn't shown much to prove he will make a difference in the granny..
But careful with all this "your day will come" sort of crap..
Not everyone gets a chance, and if you didn't realise its been 44 years since the Cats won, and if they do win this one, it may be again??
Sadly Blake's day may never come again, although for his sake i hope it does!!

I guess most fans here are pretty bullish on our future prospects. As are the bookies who have us at 3.20 for the 08 flag. Also remember we are saying he may get another opportunity to play in a GF not that he will win a flag.

I dont want to be seen as a sh--stirrer as it isnt my intention but blind faith in ability doesnt win you a flag - form, fitness and luck with injuries play a part......Casing point the WCE imagine what would of happend if Judd Kerr and Cousins were injury free in the finals.

As nice as this thread is it doent give him his spot back nor it guarentees another grand final :(

It's not quite blind faith though is it. We have seen him steadily improve throughout the 22 games he played this year and the cats have been a level above since round 5.

Obviously there are no guarantees but with hard work I have faith the cats can be there again in the next few years.

Bad luck Blakey. Don't get down on yourself, the coaches, or the club. Put in a monster preseason and take out the Brownlow next year. Always remember, the club is bigger than the individual.
