I just heard on SEN that Caracella may be headed for the National Draft, as opposed to the Pre-season Draft. They were also talking about him putting a price on his head in the ND. I wasn't aware that you were able to name a figure in the National Draft. I thought that was the domain of the PSD. Can anyone clarify? Thanks.

You're correct. (I think) If he goes in the National draft, he has no control over who selects him and would go on a standard contract. In the PSD he can nominate a salary. Thats how I understand it anyway.

Then how come Nick Stevens couldn't put a massive price on his head this time last year and come to us via the PSD?
I think you'll find that he agreed to terms with Carlton prior to the PSD who were willing to pay him handsomely

No i dont think that is entirely correct. There are special circumstances where u can put a price on your head in the national draft. I remember Shannon Grant did it before he went to Sydney, and Winston Abraham did the same thing as well. Cant remember the official ruling on it, but it can be done.

Even if he could go in the National Draft, the question becomes, why would he? What would be his motivation.

Shannon Grant came to the Kangaroos via a trade with Wayne Schawass to go to Sydney.
