Blicavs to CHB.

There's a back six with likely 3 key size defenders, Blitz definitely can't play small, so I don't really see him earning a spot amongst that back six. If it comes down to he and Gardner for a spot, I want Gardner there.
It depends. If they decide to utilise Taylor in Domsy's spot then Blitz will get the nod at the key position, If they think Gardner is a better replacement at FB then Taylor will play CHB.

Both Stewart and Kolodjashnij can play tall so we have plenty of options.

Blitz is a utility and has proven that by playing through the midfield. He's tall enough and versatile enough to play key back.

It takes more than height to stand toe to toe with Buddy at CHB.

Looking at the first month of the season.

Melbourne: Hogan, McDonald
Hawthorn: Roughead, Schoenmakers, Gunston
West Coast: Kennedy, Darling, Vardy
St.Kilda: Bruce, McCartin, Membrey

Based on matchups the question is whether Gardner or Blicavs will be better suited.

Based on that, Gardner. My gut feeling is Blicavs.

Blicavs could do it within a game when you needed a stop gap after an injury or concussion.

As a long term proposition I don’t see the point. He is much better utilised in the middle of the ground where he can use his pace to link up play and shut down space.

Hope Gardner gets a go in JLT.

I was shocked Gardner wasn't played in the same series last year ... and he was fit.
I'll also add I was disappointed to be honest.. young promising player, he'd learn a lot just warming up and playing with the senior boys, the instructions on the field, the way the defenders cover for each other and work together... and that stuff can help fast track development

You know how much I rate him. He has a terrific attitude.

I vividly remember that inner sanctum tour where we both stood on the field watching on as he gave Nathan Vardy and absolute bath. I reckon I counted at least 25 times in a row where he beat him comprehensively and left Vardy spitting chips on the ground.

That was when I knew Vardy didn't have the will to succeed at Geelong. To his credit he's fought back. That simply shoes how much talent Gardner has.

I've firmly been in the sink or swim camp. We'll never know about Gardner if we sit him in the reserves. With Henderson out we have the perfect opportunity to find out.

Must play in JLT. It will be negligent on the club if he didn't ... although I said the same last year.

Your wisdom and knowledge has you utterly convinced that the untried Gardner would be a better option than the frustrating Stanley?

Most definitely. He’s actually a defender by trade
