Look I am way over on the other side of the country but from over here it looked like the club thought he really could make it but somrthing happened toward the end of the season that changed all that. Did he have some off-field issue or incident that hasn't been highlighted? Hey I don't know anything about him other than what I have read here and on other footy sites but everything seemed very positive about him then suddenly he was gone. Can anyone enlighten me?

I would hate to see him blitz at freo............Another good propect we let slip.
However i believe he didn't like being in Victoria. Was a sticking point,from the time he arrived.
Always complained, never tried real hard over here, watch him turn it on at freo.
Pity,well if he can't handle being at the best club in the land,then he can take his chances at freo.
Still must prove himself,it aint easy.

From all reports, was terribly homesick and told the club he wanted to return to WA.
Also from reports from the VFL watchers, was that if he a slight niggle, he wouldn't play.
As an under 18, I read that he was very courageous. Maybe didn't translate to doing that agonist bigger bodies or just didn't want to be here.
Disappointing because the kid seemed to have some talent. One of many that a similar thing happens to each year.

Definitely the case, i've seen him shirk contests or go in half paced plenty of times. Not a great loss.

FWIW I can only think of two players that forged good careers after being initially listed by the Pies in the last 20 years - Brenton Sanderson & Matthew Carr.
Can't recall us being burnt too often by players that we didn't rate enough to retain.
We didn't let Jurrah slip.
We would have taken him, but Melbourne got him with #1 pick in the PSD after he hadn't even nominated for the draft. They had to alter the rules for him to be picked, and we were the unlucky ones.

Jurrah was never on our list - Pods??? Won't lose any sleep over him.
I dont recall a single "good prospect" that Collingwood has let slip since we traded Mal Michael, and before that Brenton Sanderson. Josh Mahoney maybe but he really was no superstar, just ended up in the right place at the right time. Very few Collingwood rejects make the grade at other clubs

Good luck to Blight if he makes the grade but Collingwoods track record in clearing out its list stands for itself. Mostly when we sack players they dont prove the club wrong.
While I agree most players we let go don't go on to big thing, Blight it seems walked out on us rather then us dropping him. Still, with that attitude he'll have to turn it around quickly and keep it going to be any good.
in the past we haven't had a premiership list. now we do. so yeah theres a good chance we'll be losing players that have a bit of potential.
im more disappointed to lose jack, but if jack and blight are all we lose we're doing good.

Nathan was selected to please his brother. Jack's a better player than Nathan was at Geelong and also has more upside. Nathan Ablett was a dud when he was playing, let alone now. GC would have courted him as part of the "Luring Gary strategy" and to not follow through today would have pissed Gary off big time.
