is all the blk contracts going to isc?
Probably not, they're probably going to COAR given the AFL Womens league signing but we can live in hope. ISC is just the fans preferred option as most of the other manufactures either won't pick anyone up or don't do gear better than ISC or are more about their own brand than the clubs (Adidas)

You'd hope they don't do that cheap iron on AFL logo like they did with the W league

Woah, what a day!

For nerds, this means lots:

Obviously, about a third of the league will be releasing full suites of new gear.

Secondly, that Brisbane Lions clash will end up an all-time whale. Not only the collars, but will a new manufacturer really 100% copy that Bears design? Ditto for the Saints.

I can also see lots of teams wearing jumpers just for 2017 before they get more permanent, long-term sponsorships.

Man!

The real dangerous thing is the AFL's new relationship with COAR might make it the default option for clubs.

If BLK is sunk and if they haven't delivered a lot of 2017 gear to their clubs, I doubt any one provider could deliver everything from scratch in time. Unbranded gear from many local manufacturers would be much more likely.

I think both GC and Giants would be core . no fanbase

ISC could deliver the Richmond gear just swap the red for yellow on the Essendon template and add the appropriate sponsor logos, they can also supply St Kilda with last years jumpers. So that's 2 easily taken care of. They can probably modify the old Gellong template to do Adelaides hoops so that another one easily sorted.

It all comes down to manufacturing time the designs are fairly easy to replicate.

No, there is no reason for one manufacturer to just take over the contracts of another.

"Probably"? Why would you say that? There is zero reason to assume that all the BLK teams will "probably" be picked up by COAR. The clubs themselves do their sponsor negotiating, not the AFL.

Everyone just needs to calm down a bit and stop jumping to conclusions. Even if its true, it means literally nothing yet in terms of who supplies who.

Clubs will have to do some quick negotiating to get something going for next year. Some clubs (Richmond for example) may have already been talking to new suppliers about taking over at the end of the BLK contract, and might be able to fast-track these deals. Others might look to a new supplier on a quick, one-year only deal with a view to renegotiate for further years if it suits both parties.

The other option is cheap, unbranded gear for a season while they negotiate proper deals with established companies. (EDIT: Beaten to this point by Mr. Eagle)

Lets remember we don't even have any official confirmation of anything thats happened to BLK yet apart from a report on SEN.

How long does it really take to churn out a bunch of jumpers? Merch might be a little harder but I can see lots of teams just using in-house stuff for fans. If a club sorts out a sponsorship by February (which really is plenty of time – each club will have offers and it's not in their interest to fuff about and take too long to decide), surely clubs could have jumpers and some basic training stuff by April?

I can see many clubs possibly running out in brand new stuff throughout the year. Surely the AFL would be lenient if, say, St Kilda and Sekem can't wear new jumpers until round 8 or so.

Do you have a source to "confirm" this other than SEN?
Someone on the Richmond board says someone they sell to was told this by a supplier this morning.

Apparently he teased it the other week.

Makes you wonder how ****ing dumb they were. Why would you seriously bother making new jumpers, ala Lions clash, or signing up St Kilda when you were in some sort of financial strife?

Wait AFL were aware when we signed with them and didn't give us the heads up? WTF AFL!

I think he just means that the AFL are aware of the unfolding situation, not that they knew before Saints signed.

Depends how long they've been in financial strife. The Saints deal and Lions new clash would have been in the works 6+ months ago. This could be a very sudden development, or they could have been confident of working their way out of it but it hasn't worked out.
