Tigers board poster saying that Richmond have signed with someone (def not adidas) and that Brisbane are going to be with ISC

FWIW I've heard Richmond may have signed with Puma, this was a couple of months back. Richmond may have seen this coming.

ISC have a far larger foundation to work with. BLK went too big too quickly and probably didn't get the footing with smaller local clubs creating the funds to go big.
I've only seen ISC in Australia?

BLK had a global footprint didn't they?

I suspect many of the BLK clubs were in the finals years of contracts and were preparing to move away like the Bulldogs did, only St Kilda was stupid enough to sign on with them.

Does anybody know if the clubs have been paid or will still get paid?
Would depend on the administration process, who their larger creditors are, how much if any debt they have with a bank/lender and what priority they have over any security that was taken. If they have bank debt that will most likely be repaid through the liquidation of assets, anything else will go to paying creditors dependant on their payment terms / size of payment due etc etc, if AFL clubs haven't been paid I find it unlikely they will receive much if anything. That being said insolvency has many layers and variable so without knowing details that is hard to ascertain.

Can confirm from a source within the club, that GWS have not received their 2017 gear yet. Not sure what was going to happen, will be finding a new provider thought but was concerned COAR is a very real possibility with their current level around the AFL and GWS' lack of bargaining power.

GWS' lack of bargaining power? 1 game away from the GF this year and premiership favourites in 2017, they have a lot of bargaining power and companies will want to be with them.

What I gather from this is that nobody really knows, wouldn't surprise me if all but one or two end up with somebody else if that's the case.

Yes ISC is primarily in Australia, but also have teams in England (Super League). However ISC has also been around since 1991 and have held some decent contracts in that time while also building a large community team base where their main funds come from to get the bigger contracts.

BLK only began in 1999 (as a subsidiary of KooGa) and on their own as BLK in 2011 and in that time went too quick with getting big name teams and did not have the foundations to do so.

That term came from within the club, it isn't to do with on field performance, rather their ability to sell merchandise to one of the smaller AFL markets in Australia coupled with them having one of the smaller fanbases in the league, the return for an apparel supplier from selling GWS merch is tiny compared to a Hawthorn / Collingwood who have a much larger target market.

Fair enough.

FWIW I've heard Richmond may have signed with Puma, this was a couple of months back. Richmond may have seen this coming.

Would make sense.
Puma usually have 2 sometimes up to 3 teams running around in their gear at the same time.
Adelaide, Hawthorn, Essendon, West Coast and Brisbane have all been with Puma in recent times (within 10 years)
I'm pretty sure at one stage Hawthorn, Adelaide, West Coast and Essendon were all puma at the same time.
Currently with only West Coast as their team, they can surely fit one more potentially two.

Haven't had any more than 2 clubs since the end of 2010. They actually seemed to be phasing clubs out for a while - there was a long standing rumour they were dumping all AFL contracts, but then signed on with Adelaide and are still with West Coast, so that was obviously crap.

Essendon finished at the end of 2008
Sydney end of 2009
Brisbane end of 2010
Hawthorn end of 2012
Adelaide then jumped on board for 2013-14 only.

West Coast were a constant throughout that whole time.

Richmond's jumpers would look very good with Puma though. Just imagine their yellow clash!

In terms of big newsworthy moments on the board, just having a look at the most replied to threads under the "News" prefix:
  • Indigenous Rounds are always big but the first one where every team was getting involved was huge, a 900+ reply thread
  • The Hawthorn clash jumper competition, and the release of their power ranger jumper a year earlier
  • New logos are always big. Bulldogs, Dees, Tiges etc
  • Gold Coast's branding, GWS' branding, Freo's re-branding
  • And then not so much on this board but the Return The Wings movement was massive
But yeah this is definitely up there. Particularly because of the ripple effect impacting workers, clubs, fans, etc.
Another one to add to this list would be the AFL forcing Port to wear their away guernsey in a home final against Richmond. Port kicking up a stink (rightly so), then wearing the prison bars which had to be manufactured within days and shipped to Australia.

Fair enough.

No longer with the Big Bash, in fact, I think they only were with them as KooGa, not BLK.
They are with the Sheffield Shield and Ryobi Cup, though, but don't supply training etc to each state. Only on-field playing kits for domestic first-class and list-A

that funny

just last week they were saying theyre expecting the new blk range in the tigerland superstore by the end of nov

Richmond's BLK contract ended at the end of 2017, and they haven't been overly shy with their criticism. I reckon they've been working on their replacement for 2018 already, perhaps already signed, and now they'll try and get them in a year early. This could be how they've already "signed" with Puma, while still getting in BLK gear for this year.

Fair enough, thanks for correcting me.
Time flies, seems like only yesterday Hawthorn and Essendon were with Puma.
I love their stuff, I have a lot of their soccer merchandise and it is top notch.
Dustin Martin is one of the biggest Puma athletes in the AFL so hopefully they are using him as a reason for (hopefully) joining us.
Would be brilliant

Fair enough.

Are you sure that BLK has the BBL?

I can't wait to see who richmond signs with. Just to see actual yellow and black will be awesome. One of the best Guernseys in the league when done right
