Can these guys kick a big enough score on the biggest stage of all to get us across the line?

On their day, Weightman, Naughton, English are all true 3-goal forwards, with Schache and Hannan probably 2-goal prospects. Baz, well we know what he's been doing, and Treloar is in the mix because he loves a goal and is probably our best shot on-the-run along with Bont, and also blonde so it goes with the theme. 😉

In all seriousness I believe these guys can get the job done. Weightman, English and Schache are all generally very reliable in front of goal. Naughton can be very good on his day, but also be way off. Hannan seems to be peaking nicely and can also get them on the ground. Baz is flying and striking the ball amazingly well. Treloar chipping in with a couple would be a big bonus.

Just a shame JJ doesn't have his Odell-Beckam-Jnr blonde mop still going.

What I like about this forward mix is that the 3 talls (Naughts, Schache, English) are all quite mobile and cover a lot of ground whilst the 2 small/mids who'll spend a fair bit of time deeper forward (Hannan and Weightman) are strong overhead and can take a contested mark.

That means the opposition needs 5 deeper defenders who can both cover ground and be strong overhead. Big ask.

From there, it's just a matter of isolating the weak link.

Melbourne’s defence is aerially dominant and their wings and mids work back like ours to cover their ground ball defence.

we can actually get them on the ground

Just need to get deep enough entries and functionality from the talls
