with the recent passings of ken hands and billy williams is it long long overdue to make a movie re this epic event, you have all the pieces and then some
1.billy williams as a young boy living near carltons home ground carries the bags of"mr".chitty
2.carlton starts season 2-5 including a 100 point thumping
3.billy williams kicks a goal after the siren in round 16 to sink footscray, unwittingly helping carlton make the finals
4.carlton wins 9 on the trot to make finals
5.north melbournes first ever vfl/afl final
6.the preliminary final where it all started-
PRELIMINARY FINAL, 1945: Carlton 13.12 (90) d Collingwood 12.8 (80)
Many who saw the game say it was more vicious than the ‘Bloodbath’ Grand Final, and there is little doubt these two games are among the most violent in AFL/VFL history. The preliminary final was not just a case of “gloves are off”, but “boots are on”. Descriptions of the game in Graeme Atkinson’s The Book of VFL Finals suggest the brawls were ferocious, with boots being used liberally.
7.the grand final-
GRAND FINAL, 1945: Carlton 15.13 (103) d South Melbourne 10.15 (75)
The 1945 Grand Final is the most infamous violent game of all, largely because of its catchy sobriquet (the Bloodbath), the fact it was a spiteful Grand Final just weeks after World War II had ended, and the fact that players were dropped mostly behind play like nine-pins.
Rules and respect for authority went out the window, as typified by South’s Ted Whitfield, who, with his jumper pulled over his head, ran away from an umpire who was trying to take his number. At the height of the violence, Carlton’s Freddie Fitzgibbon ran on to the field and started swinging. While that may sound unremarkable, it should be noted that Fitzgibbon was a spectator, already serving a four-match suspension for striking Collingwood’s Len Hustler in the preliminary final. Whitfield was reported on five charges and suspended for a total of 25 matches. He never played League football again. Six players -- three from each club -- were suspended for a total of 73 matches.
8.jack basher williams of south melbourne locates bob chitty of carlton after the game and invites him to"finish it"chitty declined
9.bob chitty passes in 1985,in an interview years later, billy williams had so little respect for him that he didnt care that he went to his grave not knowing that the little blonde kid who used to carry his bags and call him mr.chitty was the same kid he knocked out behind play in the bloodbath grand final
10.souths don grossman passes in 2004 leaving billy williams and 6 carlton players alive,he outlives wines, mooring, clark, williams & way before passing some 17 months before ken hands

if thats not what movies are made of,then i dont know what is & i support niether team

Ted Whitfield went off to Coach Ararat.
they talk about who would be present at your dream dinner table, well i would save a spot for this guy, drinking 6 beers before every game and topping up at half time as well as shagging chicks in the back of the car on the way to the games,he would be awesome & after billy williams, ken hands & chitty would get 4th and 5th in the billing with jack basher williams

i gave a little bit of wrong info there, matlock and dempsey of south both died after grossman, but before all 6 carlton players & billy williams
