As a Collingwood supporter, i found todays display absolutely disgusting. To loose in 3 grandfinals (an thats including wizard cup) is a disgrace. I an many other Collingwood supporters are sick and tired of loosing them. Its getting beyond a joke.

I dont understand why they do this? and please dont write back saying they're still young an are still rebuilding cos thats absolute crap. Take a look at the sydneys they have young players but even when they're down for the count they seem to always pull something out of the bag, not fall asleep an come back when its all over. Tarrant was really pethetic today, along with cloke. the only player who prolly stood up was buckley and maybe fraser. the rest should take a good hard look at themselves and decide where they want the club to head into for their sake! and i can see alotta players heads rolling at the end of the year.

Anyways we did have a few players out like lockyer, rocca, mckee, and i bet if u brang in those 3 players into the squad we prolly woulda had more of a chance. Even Brisbane had their fare share of injuries but they still put up a good fight and didnt crumble away. Collingwood should take a good look at the game an learn from their mistakes cos theres no more excuses anymore.

I wish the pies best of luck in 2004, hopefully it'll be a better year for all of us.....

Cloke was played out of position all day. I was almost on my hands and knees at one point today, pleading for him to be sent down back. But Mick wouldn't do it .

Burns and Fraser played well. Licuria, Prestigiacomo, Wakelin and Buckley tried hard all day.

I think we seemed to be concentrating to much on trying to replace Rocca (as evidenced by putting Cloke, a key backman, in the forward line all day). We seemed to forget about our defence, which has been the key to all our good performances this year.

We also let Brisbane dictate, which was a mental thing on the behalf of a lot of the players.

Tex tried also, but he was perhaps a little inexperienced to be playing back up ruckman. I think McKee or Molloy should have come in with him to help out (in particular Molloy who would have been good in the forward line with his style up there).

We missed Rocca and Lockyer's leadership and experience today I think. Tarrent was always going to struggle with having to contend with so many defender being able to rotate off him with Rocca not there.

Soft Draw shows up in the end. If I were you blokes I would be pressureing Ed to send them everywhere so they grow some balls.

Given the teams we played on our run home (Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney and Essendon in the last four weeks of the H&A), I hardly call it a soft draw.

And with the AFL insisting we play Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney twice in a season, and the four travel rule to ensure that all Victorian teams travel (in 1995 Carlton had one trip to Sydney and that's it, which is why the rule was brought in), is why we're only travelling to WA once next year.

yeah well u can blame malthouse for that. he costed the game wif sum of the pethetic moves he made...i mean why da hell leave a good defender like clokey up forward for most of the match..he shoulda been in defence 4 cryin out loud:mad:

I think Collingwood got a bit carried away by the second half of their season.

These were the four tough games they played, but the rest were not particularly taxing in terms of opposition.

Brisbane pumped them the first time they played, and were struggling with injuries the second time. Collingwood played well to win that final, but injuries and weather helped.

Adelaide were rather underdone in that win, with many players suffering flu.

The win over Sydney was a good one, but Sydney didn't really start playing at the opening bounce and the initial advantage Collingwood gained was all they won by.

Win over Essendon was also good, but again it relied on wet weather.

A good H&A season for Collingwood, but, as I mentioned a week or so ago, it made them a bit too overconfident and believing in their ability a bit too far.

Have you ever considered the fact that we play and absolute awsome opponent, besides the Wizard cup... Brisbane will be remembered as one of the all time greatest sides

I.

If I were the magpies I would put up everyone bar Buckley/Tarrant/Fraser as potential trade bait in an effort to lure either stevens or Brown.

The pies are still a couple of class acts from a premiereship side , anyone of up to a dozen two bit bums that took the field today could be cast aside with no ill effects

A couple ??? You need a Centre HF, two ruckmen, a tall marking backman, and about 3 hard ball winners, along with a set of balls for the rest of the team.
Oh, and then you need to find out how to win a grand final.:D

Tarrant wasnt pathetic. Tarrant was in trouble with no Rocca. He couldnt do his usual running the backmen off their legs trick....who was he going to kick it to? Fraser was too stuffed to get down there often, Kinnear and Walker arent capable of the big contested grab against that defense (Tex will be in a couple of years). When it was bombed long to Taz, he usually had Michael AND Leper to outmark, thats without Bradshaw hanging around. Collingwood were smashed in the middle, there was never long quick ball for him to go one on one, and Brisbane nearly always had a man back to cover the leading hole, because we were far too slow moving it.

Taz is (I believe) the biggest tryer at the club, always chasing, always presenting, always trying to bring his teammates into the game. Please, this is one man you cannot disrespect.

Tex will be a good ruckman in years to come, but he needs time to develop. We need to look to pick up a decent experienced Ruckman (maybe someone like a McDonald from Brisbane) to play along side Fraser while Tex is still developing.

We also need to look to pick up another key forward who can back up Tarrent and Rocca. Tarrent struggled today without Rocca, and I think having a third key forward with them will help, especially if one of them goes down injured.

And finally play Cloke down back!!! He is such a good backman, why play him forward? I think, to be honest, playing Cloke down forward unsettled our backline and had I think Cloke was uncomfortable down forward for the simple fact that he doesn't play as well up there as he does down back.

Our defence has been so good, why mess with a winning formula in the biggest match of the year.

what collingwood needs, is some muscle.

looking out our side, compared to the brisbane lions.. either we are too short, or too light. Without Rocca we look weak and vulnerable, and collingwood needs to trade/draft players with abit of muscel and weight to push around (also a heap of skill)

We just get pushed around too easily, get bumped off the ball.. making us not run in straight lines and do those couragous things (cause we are too weak, bar a few).

I think, molloy would've been good to through his weight around the packs and ruffle some feathers, but he is in such poor form, cant even get the ball.

Richardson, freeborn, molloy, shaw, davis, kinnear, holland must all make way for some new recruits who are agile, big, strong footballers who are seasoned pros.

The 2003 Brisbane side shouldn't be considered as anything more than an average premiership team. Port were the stand-out side all year, finishing 3 games clear. If Brisbane 2003 are one of the all-time greats how good are Port, despite choking in the finals? They must be the greatest H&A side ever - by miles!

turn it up i keep saying it, but how many classy type midfilders do we want? Burns, Woey, Lica, Buckley. The your second string player like Scotty, O'bree seriously what we need is not a frikking run with player, because our list has to many. We need a goddam ruckman, Fraser was killed all day because he is a bitch better floating forward then ruckman, and Keating is a tank. We need a genuine ruckman with hardly any ball skills but thats big and tough, like Keating.

its no good winning home and away games and then not winning the one that counts... they always seem to stuff themselves up in preliminary finals ex: cloke got suspended last year in the prelim' big loss to our defence line last year, an this year rocca gets suspended an left a big hole in our forward line. if we make it again next year to the prelim i hate to dread who'll get suspended this time....

I think woey was reminded 39 times in the GF by Black why Melb made the tough call that he is nowhere near a 400k man.

He was made to look like a two bit hack and should change his name by depol to "Norm Smith"

He aint and never will be the answer

You're a fool.

Truly great sides end up on top regardless of the route they might have taken to get there.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. The Lions are the best footy team I've seen play the game and the fact that they've managed to rack up three in row in such a cut throat comp is testimony to their greatness.
