Charlie ruled out for the ‘start of the season’ (whatever that means) per the Carlton website. Reading between the lines it sounds like he’ll aim for the bye and any games before then will be a bonus.

At full flight Charlie is our most dangerous and dynamic forward so it’s definitely going to hamper our chances of winning early games, but if Casboult keeps up his 2019 form and Harry/McG are healthy (for the most part) then I’m not too concerned about hitting the score board.

and that’s a big ‘IF’ regarding Harry - who knows when he’ll be ready to go.

Harry will be fine
Are we expecting him to be at peak fitness for round 1?
He has done next to no running, and is yet to come back into full training. He may be available round 1 but I doubt he will be at peak fitness.
What escapes many is that Harry is no less advanced than at this stage last season. At the Maroochydore camp, he had next to no involvement. That is still 2 1/2 weeks away. He may well be in front of where he was and hopefully Russell has woven some magic. It is frustrating that a potential superstar continues to enter seasons without a full preparation, but I fully concur with Barass, he will be fine.

Charlie's absence categorically puts Levi on the park, taking any pressure off Harry to step up for rucking duties. McGovern has got his finger out and could become a star of the game with an increased workrate, so all will be fine.

Lovely last paragraph. Smalls at the feet and half forwards / wingers pressing up to complement. Gotta run back though. .

From the latest injury report:

Charlie Curnow: Knee (fracture) - Will miss initial rounds of season

Marc Murphy: Ankle (bone bruising) - 1 week modified training

Harry McKay: Groin - Restarted recovery program, will resume normal training soon

Caleb Marchbank: Neck (fracture) - To resume normal training 2-3 weeks, round 1 availability

Nic Newman: Elbow (hyper extension) - To resume normal training in 1 week

Brodie Kemp: Knee (ACL) - Unlikely to play this season

Yep. We’re gonna need a big start to the year from Levi.

Levi will do what he always does … but gets better each year. You will have oh WOW moments, and pound you head against post moments.

But he will give his all, he is a soldier.

We all love Charlie and have seen glimpses of just how good he could be. If it is a likely June return, everything would have to go right to see him doing much in 2020. It would be an interesting selection problem if we are in contention... lets hope he gets up and about sooner than later.

With Charlie a non-starter when the season kicks off & Harry having had a restricted pre-season, we are very fortunate that Eddie is back to slot into his position as one of our KPFs. We'd look even better if we still had Armfield to select at CHB.

We got guts and half forwards to step up. And Levi. Hope harry and Charlie rehab well .
