A few weeks ago Charlie’s new surgeon figured out was the cause of the issue was (it was different to what they previously thought) and is now confident they can manage the issue going forward.
So the change in surgeon has (touch wood) seemingly sorted it?
New surgeon touched wood. Immediately realised the old surgeon used the wrong materials.
Out of interest, Dr Bearded Carpenter, where were you when Charlie's original surgery was performed?
Injury update:-
Injury news: Updates on Newman, De Koning and more
Andrew Russell runs through the state of Carlton's list ahead of its first practice match.www.carltonfc.com.au
It’s pre-season and most players listed will be available round one or very soon afterThe never-ending cycle of injuries and 6-10 players being unavailable at a time continues.
great news on De Koning ...as he is a difference maker for sure And provided he starts running next week[ as expected] and can get back into it and playing fairly soon it will make us that much more finals threatSo Charlie and Kemp second half of year ( as expected )
Philp and Marchbank doing their own pre-season now ready for start of VFL season
Newman sore round ready for start of VFL season at latest
Eddie | McGovern and Levi should be fine for round 1
Positive surprise re TDK
Sorry I didn't realise that Russell had any control over broken bones. What happen now. Wtf is Russell doing to our players
Sorry I didn't realise that Russell had any control over broken bones.
True story. Last year post-COVID lockdown I was collecting footys after training, in the rain. I slipped on wet grass and broke 4 bones in my arm (including an open fracture through the skin too). To make matters worse, some dirt from the pitch got into the exposed bone and caused a very nasty infection which we only found out about 4 months later due to severe discolouration of the skin. Turned out half the tissue in my arm was dead and needed to be removed. In a few weeks I go back to the hospital for my 3rd surgery to take out the remaining metal plates and screws.
Moral of the story... I could've had Russell or the world's best director of high performance, and an injury like mine still would've been unavoidable.
Chill out everyone....at least we aint St Kilda.....touchwood
Id say since a few rounds into 2018 we'd be averaging 9-10 unavailable week to week over that period .The never-ending cycle of injuries and 6-10 players being unavailable at a time continues.
The King’s injury report from Russell is brilliant news, bad luck for Newman but soreness behind the knee is way better than a fractured knee cap... Charlie update sounds really promising and Kemp’s long term should be patience, besides Marchbank‘s Groundhog Day injury progress the rest of the them are short term, happy days...
Was thinking the exact same thing.Re: Marchbank, is that the 1st time that the calf has been mentioned?
Neck into the knee, knee continued on and then the calf pings.
Yeah Possibly, with Marchy it’s all a blur...Re: Marchbank, is that the 1st time that the calf has been mentioned?

He has been earting a sh*t sandwich has Marchbank as far as continual injury goes - the whole saga started with his neck went to his back then quads then knee and now calf - whats next down the chain - ankle or foot? I reall;uy feel sorry for him - obviously teh Club rates him very highly....and Charlie....and Kemp who Teafge had HUGE wraps on...Yeah Possibly, with Marchy it’s all a blur...
Blokes had a shocking run of injuries, the neck fracture is just a pure freakish injury so unlucky but extremely fortunate that it wasn’t any worse than it potentially could have been... Really like him as a player has tremendous courage and before this bad run looked to have some wonderful upside as a defender, one wonders if he can ever get back without further recurring brake downs what type of long term physical damage might it cause or restrict him too...He has been earting a sh*t sandwich has Marchbank as far as continual injury goes - the whole saga started with his neck went to his back then quads then knee and now calf - whats next down the chain - ankle or foot? seriously if these blokes make it back for after the bye - will be huge lift for us..forget Kemp - but you never know...apparently he was blitzing it in preseason...
Only Carlton Matters.Only Carlton has injuries.
Doesn't really have anything to do with his point
Moot point now, but the idea was that sitting in a chair is pretty low stress.Correct, but that wasn't quite my point. If he did in fact fracture his knee yesterday and is seeing a specialist only today, wouldn't we expect him to kind of take it easy before a professional assesses what he's allowed and not allowed to do?
Was thinking the exact same thing.
First he did his neck, then his knee, then a quad, then his calf. All this in under 2 years. Played an average of 8 games across his 6 years in the league. What does his future hold?
Problem working it's way down -- once it exits his big toe -- it's brownlow timeRe: Marchbank, is that the 1st time that the calf has been mentioned?
