But we've paid to much for him, how can we be happy no matter how good he is?
The issue isn't about what Marchbank turns out to be. The issue is with GWS playing games with us. Would you have been happy to give up pick #5 for him? That's what they were asking for mate. Why they put a huge price on Marchbank but let the others go for a packet of chips?

Pick 21 next year and GWS let him go into the PSD.

After event experts aren't much good at anything and people who look at list management as a series of independent unrelated trades where you have to win every trade are even less useful.

It's list building not trade winning.

Get your head around the difference and you'll sleep better.
Really? Do you honestly think GWS would rather lose Marchbank for nothing than take an early 2nd rounder? Especially considering they have highly rated academy kids next year as well?

People who think like that are useless mate.

It was clear from get go they wanted to **** us over. They didn't get what they want but whether you want to admit it or not, we had to let go of Tuohy for less than what we should've got.

And I'll say it again, so was Marchbank.

I don't get what you're disagreeing with here either. You say Marchbank for #21/23 would be a good trade, but that's also what I said. The real question is, will Tuohy + 21/23 for Marchbank be a good trade? Only time will tell. Pickett was a separate trade and I have no issue with that one at all.

The issue I have is GWS knew how badly we wanted Marchbank and held it to us. They have Richmond people there now so we have to stay away from them from now on. We can't allow them to screw us out of draft picks again.
so you think we can't trade with GWS anymore because they have "Richmond" people now?

That's the funniest thing I've read in a while.

Um we can be happy if he is an absolute jet who plays 250 games for us. That future 2nd round pick, which we will probably recoup with trades next year, won't mean anything in 3 years time when we have the strongest defence in the league. You have to give something to get something decent. The club rates Marchbank highly and got him with a decent enough deal. As supporters we back him in and look forward to watching him play. Or you can sulk about a few picks or there.

Jimmae, did Thompson retire? i didn't see that. or do you mean van berlo?
I did indeed! Point stands, though he remains on the list. They need more elite talent in there.

Can you confirm if this is still him?
:p

It's footage from last month, the rest is all from years ago. Seen a few people saying he's slow; he's not, and what's more he's got a great sidestep.

...all in your very inexperienced opinion.

So, which clubs can we trade with in 2017 now that you've canned GWS?

I just need to let SOS know so he can make sure we target clubs where no nasty Tigers lurk.

Did you not read what I said? I've already said it about 5 times. They clearly set out to screw us over. And you think it would be wise to do business with those people again? That's the funniest thing I've read in a while.

Added to the fact we already have 9 former GWS players on our list, I don't want any more. It's not like Shiel or Patton will be leaving them for us anyway. Maybe if someone of that quality wanted to come to us then we'd have to consider it but that's not going to happen.

Everybody on here has an inexperienced opinion. Shit by that logic no one should post anything on here.

You're not an AFL list manager either buddy.

Don't forget we had "experienced people" at the club and it stuffed us up big time. All these 1st found picks over the last 10 years, how many still on our list?

Like I already said, there wasn't much more SOS could have done, but it would be smart to stay away from clubs who aren't professional in the way they do business from now on.

So we can't deal with GWS because we have 9 ( it's 8 now isn't it) and because they have nasty Tiger people in there.....unless they are good players and then it's ok, but they won't come anyway?

Jesus on a tricycle.

Think I'll move on .

Anybody seen any good movies?

It's that lovely kick I'm into. Litherland has quite a nice shoe too iirc.

If we could get both as DFAs, I'm sure Bolts could find a role for them.

Any players that can improve our efficiency forward of centre have my approval.

What's so far-fetched about being ok with dealing with them over their proven players? If Shiel wanted to come to us, then we know what we're getting, it's a different story. But like I said it's unlikely.

So far all of the players we've brought in from GWS were unproven at the time (well except for Palmer but he's proven to be a journeyman)

Last year they were willing to be fair about their trades, they knew they had to let go of players for cap space and we got a great deal for a bunch of unproven players.

This year, recruitment team changed and so did their attitude. I don't like the idea of dealing with them over their potential players any more because they are no doubt going to ask for more 1st rounders in which I think we'll be better off using those 1st rounders at the draft from now on so we can bring up our own talent.

Was he contracted, though? Drafted in 2014. Spent two years at GWS.

...and they can ask nicely this time.
Contrast Adelaide amateur hour with Cats and Ablett.

Ablett asked, then Cats asked GC.

GC said "no - he is contracted and a required player".

Cats said "OK - we understand".

Nothing came out in the media until weeks later.

If Reid had used some manners and not been a complete tool he may have got a better outcome.

Lesson in life - "good manners are free and it won't kill you to to use them".

And he isn't worth that which is why Adelaide said no
True - but my guess is a guy with ******* massive migraine is going to pay more for some Panadol than someone without a headache.

If you own the Panadol, think you might get a headache the next day and there is are no more available until next year???

I also guess you are not going to sell unless the offer is too good to refuse.

If I'm going to keep guessing?

Crows are going to get a migraine in September 2017 ( and they won't have any Panadol).

...

This trade period even though it would have been nice to cash in on Gibbs, one, we have sent a strong message to opposition clubs trying to poach players that we won't roll over with a contracted players demands, two, a message to our own players that we won't just let you get your way after a commitment to the club, the club comes first, and, three, a message to potential recruits that if you choose us we will get the deal done. SOS again had a near perfect period in the scheme of things, bring on the draft.
