True - but my guess is a guy with ******* massive migraine is going to pay more for some Panadol than someone without a headache.

If you own the Panadol, think you might get a headache the next day and there is are no more available until next year???

I also guess you are not going to sell unless the offer is too good to refuse.

If I'm going to keep guessing?

Crows are going to get a migraine in September 2017 ( and they won't have any Panadol).
Could be the case.

Players aren't $100 bills though, after being in circulation for 10 years, weathered and worn, they won't hold their value.

Perhaps more like a good wine, you keep it, as it will get better with age, but come 10 years time, you need to decide what to do with it before it turns to vinegar.

And he isn't worth that which is why Adelaide said no
Absolutely worth it when he has 3 years to go on his contract and Carlton is not looking to offload him. Not the same as a player whose contract has expired and the club not too fussed (like Tom Mitchell of Sydney and salary cap constraints).

I don't understand these posts, from adelaide supporters, carlton supporters or the media. Fact is he's contracted. So he's worth whatever the **** we say he's worth.
All well and good if the intention is to keep a player - demand a price that no club in their right mind would agree to pay.

Given it was our intention to keep Gibbs we were perfectly justified in asking a premium price. Adelaide made the big mistake of not factoring this into their trade equation. Realistically they should have said to Gibbs that they thought it highly unlikely they would be able to negotiate an affordable deal with Carlton therefore there was no point attempting to pursue a trade. I suspect Justin Reid has learnt a lot from the trade period.

Or thrown an offer out there and told Gibbs they were nowhere near what we were asking so unfortunately they couldn't help him get home.

They probably could not have handled it any worse except making no effort at all.

Did you not read what I said? I've already said it about 5 times. They clearly set out to screw us over. And you think it would be wise to do business with those people again? That's the funniest thing I've read in a while.

Added to the fact we already have 9 former GWS players on our list, I don't want any more. It's not like Shiel or Patton will be leaving them for us anyway. Maybe if someone of that quality wanted to come to us then we'd have to consider it but that's not going to happen.
There are only 17 clubs we can deal with...how long do you want us to hold this grudge, and what happens when we've written off 90% of our possible trade partners?

They tried to screw us, according to you, but if you were running things over there and one club kept coming back year on year asking for bargains, at some point you're going to put your foot down and say "time for one of these trades to benefit us instead". They wanted pick 5, and I'm not sure why that's such a big crime - every club would want a top 5 pick. We'd probably have gotten more players for it, but it would appear we went into this trade period with the intention of keeping our first pick, and as such used other trades to generate picks we could on-trade to GWS.

GWS worked to try and get Pick 5 from us, but we held our ground and didn't give it up. That's hardly grounds to burn down the embassy.

So if we get Mitch Grigg, is Graham gonski?
Bit disappointing if it eventuates...personally still think Graham could become a player if he gains a bit more confidence...seems well adjusted off field and speaks well to the camera.

It was only last year where he was looking really promising.

Also, fair chance the club would prefer to delist someone else instead like Jones or even Jaksch (given our hard stance on slackers) but aren't willing to because they have a contract, leaving Graham to get cut. That would suck.

There's still room to keep Graham and take a DFA. We could probably take two DFAs and still not delist anymore.

All depends how we want to keep the rookie list. 39/5 or 40/4 etc

With 2e gone, Byrne out for most of 2017 and Gus still struggling with injury, I think there's a spot for the taking in the back six regardless of Marchy coming in. McKenzie and Liquorland are different players but both could get an opportunity with us and are young enough to justify. Whether we take one of them instead of a pick in the 70s or 80s is the question.

IF Graham gets the chop I seriously hope that we take him as a rookie...........
After being in the team this long, I can't imagine they would retain him in any form if he were delisted. They'd surely know whether he has the ability or potential they are after by now.
