Their player, their price.

Truth be told, they rated Marchbank a lot higher than those others and he had shown more in their estimation plus he had a KPP premium attached.
And with Patful now retired he probably would have been their CHB. Plus they didn`t want him to leave that was his choice, so that is why the original asking price imo

Not as exciting as the candy bar info but heard Barrett might be in Navy Blue by as soon as Friday.

Was in the mix with the Marchbank trade but GWS wanted rid of Palmer due to their cap. Under the table agreement for them to delist and him to sign on perhaps?
Barrett sounds like a younger version of Mark Whiley....who we just delisted.

Barrett might be no better than Whiley and Graham but as a DFA it costs us nothing to find out i guess .
He is a good size , the right age and racks up the numbers .
Gotta keep turning the list over in search of nuggets ...

More importantly, they're Silvagni and Bolton's nuggets.

They now own the process and select exactly the players they want, which is different from inheriting players from the Barker/Malthouse era.

We seemed intent on playing Graham on the half forward flank last season and he wasn't able to do it. He has to play in the center and even at Carlton there are probably too many ahead of him for that role. I've seen some slow mids do ok playing forward, Mclean used to play this role for us ok. Sam Mitchell isn't classically quick but he is over a short distance. I don't see Graham as having a great deal of speed in any areas or offering enough on the spread. With Kerridge on the list who is just a slightly bigger version of Graham, we can't fit them both in, we just get far too slow and both lack an ability to play other areas of the ground. Good depth player, we're just too slow in the middle.

Sounds like a Litherland conspiracy theory if you ask me..........

There was a post in trade week that said Barrett was agreeable to a trade to us, like that McKenna traitor mongrel bastard.

I reckon it's exactly what he and the club (GWS) have said it is.

He's been delisted to make room on the main list for the next batch of draftees, they're happy to rookie him if he wants to stay, but if he can find a better opportunity elsewhere he's within his rights to take it.

Suspect he'll move, there are enough clubs around where he'd be either a starting mid or next in line (depth) that he'd be silly to stay on at GWS for another year or two with no realistic chance of breaking into the seniors. They'll be wanting to get games into the top level draftees to see who will and won't make the grade, so a genuine depth type is surplus to all needs.
