I'd say SOS is not even worrying about Gibbs trade as he doesn't have to make it work. He has probably said "call me when you're serious" and wandered off to work on some more difficult trades with critical outcomes.

In any relationship it's almost always the person with the least to lose has the most power

I think the issue here is that Adelaide don't appear to have any other deals on the go. If they needed to get the Gibbs deal done so they could move on to other things, we'd probably have seen a bit more movement already.

The trading period should be reduced greatly.
It's so ridiculous to prolong the it is. So much speculation just creating a bit of hype to feed the media and all associated business.
Go Baggers
Lots of things start opening up through this period and clubs do need to get all their ducks in a row to make deals.

I don't think they can reduce it too much further, but maybe they will.
Maybe starts one Monday and finishes the next Monday. That way you have the weekend to finalise your offers and it comes down to a "take it or leave it"

Plenty of players have come back from 2 knee injuries and had long careers.
Id happily swap Pick 5 for 3 stars in the making in Marchbank, Pickett and Ahern.
Use a later pick for Stewert

Ahern ruptured his ACL after coming back from a knee reconstruction in Feb earlier this year. That rings alarm bells for me.

If he comes us to us, I view it as a salary dump and hope the appropriate discount applies in our trade with gws
Ahern is apparently on some decent money, you would think we could get him almost for free. I wouldn't mind getting him for peanuts even if he does have to spend next year in rehab, he has more chance to be a long term A-grade player than 2/3 of our list.
