But the AFL are already openly hinting that FA compo may stopped, possibly as early as next year.

How would you feel being Freo and the real risk of losing the best player in the comp, at 25 years of age, for nothing?
kinda weird how it happens in every other professional sport, all over the world, all the time.

If FA compensation picks will not be there in 2017 would it be logical to trade:

Adelaide out: #13 and Lyons (to Freo)

Carlton out: Gibbs (to Adelaide)

Freo Out: Fyfe (to CFC)

Hoping Fyfe is OK in 2017, but that would solve a few problems...

Can't wait to boo Gibbs next year, always been something off about him despite his talent.

Bolton seems like a great judge of character and if he is angry at one of his own players I back his judgement, Bolton seems very reasonable and understanding if you do right by him.

What a surprise that Gibbs is the first player to want out in an environment where it's about getting comfortable being uncomfortable.

I wouldn't blame SOS for doing a spite trade with Port Adelaide, even if it meant paying a portion of his salary. Port haven't got anything going on at the moment, surely they'd be up for it?

how about:

CFC:
Gain: Pick 8, AFC 2017 2nd round
Lose: Gibbs, 41

GCFC:
Gain: 13, 41, lyons
lose: Pick 8, 62

AFC:
Gain: gibbs, 62
Lose: 13, 2017 2nd, lyons

Id do this

It is a very well constructed trade option

Mentioned a while back that GC could get involved, for us to gain pick 8
Although SOS is hedging for a quality mid to head our way, which may happen separately

Bolts has pumped Bryce up quite a bit this year.

If the rumours are true then Bolts had the end of season review with him, talked about what he wants fro Bryce over the off season and what would be happening next year. All the time Bryce is sitting their nodding and indicating he's part of the plan and everything is tickety boo.

Trade week comes and he gets AFC to do the dirty work.

Not a stand up guy .

Don't agree with that at all.

Your first child is life altering in numerous ways. I don't care if he has a 10 year contract, if this is something he needs for his family, what does it matter who he chases a little bit of inflated leather around for.

Indeed it may be largely against his will...what's not 'stand up' about that?

Hang on a tick, wasn't it being reported that Bolts wanted Gibbs to stay? When did this change?

I reckon we get 13 from the Crows and whatever else we can and just do the deal.(I know SOS is doing his best) I do not want Gibbs back and Bolts does not deserve to put up with traitors!!!

No. That is what Adelaide want, there is a reason they deliberately jumped the gun and declared Gibbs was theirs before even speaking to us.

They wanted to piss us off to the point we would have a tantrum and hands Gibbs to them for whatever they said they would give.

Adelaide tried to publically screw over Carlton, to respond as they hoped would have discredited SOS as a list manager and the vlub as a whole in a time where we need to build a lot of that credibility back to potential players, and our supporter base.

We are not here to be any other clubs bitch.

Well said! We need to get everything we can for Gibbs to assist in the rebuild.

Life altering but not threatening.

Wanting to be closer to family is completely understandable .

Say all that up front if you want to get home . It's shows a lack of charachter.

Styxx I hear you mate, but as I said in an earlier post sometimes you have to make the best out of a bad situation and if MS3 is on the money then Gibbsy and Bolton are not on good terms and it won't work.

Look I don't want us to be shafted but pick 13, Lyons (would love McGovern not gonna happen) and maybe a early second rounder is all we are gonna get. We have to be realistic and not let our emotions cloud our judgement.

I rate SOS as an astute list manager and I don't think any club can pull the wool over his eyes!!

What facts are they? Someone here posted about two weeks ago that the club were already discussing suitable compensation should he ask for a trade. If BG asking for a trade is a massive shock to the club then that's totally on the club for not having a plan in place as the rumour has been floated for weeks now.
I think that Adelaide are the bastards that we should be gunning for,as they are trying to screw us over Gibbs and want it on their terms plus they are holding up our other potential deals the A...HOLES!!!!!!

If I can believe what is being said in the media SOS has given AFC the cold shoulder and won't take their calls.

He's met with Gibbs manager and said "you created this mess - you sort it out. You pursuade AFC to offer us a deal too good to refuse or Bryce plays with us next year. Call me when you've got it fixed!!"

Just gold!!

Puts the onus squarely on AFC and clears his mind to focus on other deals.
