Gibbs isnt included in the youth list because he's a vet. So Gibbs leaving doesnt drop it. Obviously Gibbs leaving hurts the team now. But out u24 squad would improve dramatically and be better off in the long run
Ahh ok. Still, I don't get why we only look at 24 and under players if that's not all we're playing.

On the crows board I see people saying they'd prefer Rocky over Gibbs as a player. I guess Adelaide like stat accumulating plodders. Rocky's 40 touches are the equivalent of 18 Gibbs disposals.

Even so, I want to keep Gibbs, trade for Kelly and have a midfield party.

Can we afford to get Kelly and Dusty ?

Jones hitting form probably rules out any possibility now but can anyone see a scenario where we can afford both ?
I believe we would be able to, yes. Particularly if Gibbs were to head back to Adelaide.

Whether we should go down that path is another question, though.

Feel like North would be mad to not try and trade Goldstein this year and keep Preuss as their number 1 ruck.
Has no value at all.
Huge contract, one good game in six, and soft as fairy floss.
Also incredibly destabilising for his current club. They will need to pay someone to take him off their books.

Agreed

Last year I wasn't really interested. Seems like he has turned things around and would be open to him coming in. At least he wouldn't cost us draft picks/players.
Some on here have posted that he may of been responsible for a poor culture at the Lions and that he's a very difficult personality to get along with. Think this translates into poor quality individual with even poorer team values..

Big no thanks from me..

How much do you think Jones will be commanding?

Not that I would be in favour of going after both of Dusty and Kelly.
Not sure but the thinking a few months back would be that Daisy and Jones would be off the books and with the increase in Salary cap we would have a bit extra to splash around.

Paying him and Daisy anything even minimum wage would impact us in that regard.

I agreed that may have been the case, last year and prior, but it seems like his attitude has changed.

So for me, a "Big" let's see what SOS does

I've got a sneaky suspicion we could be after both. Dusty to me makes as much sense as Kelly, even moreso if we were to get Kelly.

If we can't afford both, you'd really have to question why when teams like Cats and Pies have managed to score multiple players on decent contracts.

Not really you have to pay everyone on your list. Jones won't get a big dollar contract.

5 clubs lining up for Trent Mckenzie. Why aren't we one of them? 'The Canon' would be a good replacement for Simmo down the the track.

Where did you see/hear that?

Good kick but otherwise a very limited footballer. Not sure why we'd bother.

I'm hearing a deal was done in principle after last years trade deadline with adelaide and hawthorn which sees Gibbs go to adelaide, sicily come to us and an adelaide player go to hawthorn. Not sure on what picks change hands just yet. Will try and find out more in a couple of days.

I agree totally with this. I was in Melbourne a few weeks ago to see the GWS game and went to the VFL game the day before. M Lo was there walking around and at half time had about twenty Blues fans around him (all older blokes) and he was having a great two way conversation with them. Not just the formal speel, but actually listening and engaging. He got my vote there and then.
Wrong thread to talk about it but the Gooch has been phenomenal, you know you have a good president when you hardly hear from them, the club is humming at all levels and they determine that every key decision goes through a thorough process to determine the right decision.

I knew we were onto something when we went looking for a CEO and a coach to replace MH, the process was one this club has never done in over 150 years.

Reducing board numbers significantly, thereby reducing the impact of factions and bringing in a governance measure to ensure the board is not a mates club was very good policy. We brought in an expert on the board who was very important in our push to be more inclusive of women and therefore have a better chance at getting an inaugural AFLW license.

Then, when only early into his constituency took the absolute ballsy decision to tell the members we were rebuilding....BB talks about reset adnauseum but it's a rebuild.

He's not only changed the mindset of the board and admin but he's the first in history to attempt to change the mindset of the diehard faithful.

Siciliy devalues any trade for us. If we have to take him as part of a Gibbs trade, his price goes up not down.
