Someone would likely pay for Daw, thinking they could teach him something he hasn't been able to learn yet.

I just can't see it being us. Our ruck stocks will have to be bolstered by the right types, and Daw just doesn't fit......even on the cheap.
I am starting to wonder about our ruck stocks and now that Phillips is done for this season what happens next year if Casboult leaves and.....(perish the thought)........Kreuzer gets injured...........not much left is there..........if SOS can trade for Kelly,Hopper and Balic (somehow) then adding Hayes with our first pick could be the go. Before everyone shouts too early..........he can play forward and we do need another guy to take Levis`spot. Hopefully Harry is that guy by seasons`end but if he isn`t we will need to try to get Pruess or someone else from another club.....but???

Hmm.. Not sure about the dynasty.. Once they win a flag ( which will probably be this year) I think many of the players will have felt that they've accomplished what they set out to do and look to move home.. The club has a very shallow culture and lives in a town where AFL plays second fiddle to NRL.

SOS re entry into Carlton couldn't of came at a better time..

Shallow culture........how would you know this? The fact that they have rugby teams all around them would make them want to stand up and prove they are good enough, to stick it up the knockers........the "us against them syndrome". I know I would want to, and once they do win a flag they will know what it takes to build on it and they will lose players, but anyone drafted to them will feel that they are going to a "destination club" as they say when you are a successful club. It will just depend if they are mentally tough enough this year to get that first flag or not imo.

Sorry, I'll just change it to something less triggering.

I am reminded of an episode of The Journey, earlier in the year when someone was talking to Marchbank before going out onto the ground against Richmond. He was asked, "what's the biggest crowd you've played in front of"? He replied "34,000", to which he was told, " well, there's 70,000+ out there". His face seemed to light up. Here in Canberra a good crowd (capacity) is 15,000. Can't discount the huge factor, in my opinion, of playing in front of huge crowds. Not a cultural issue as such but definitely a factor.

If we manufactured a late first rounder and Hayes still available and we had acquired those players during the trade period then he'll yeah. Hayes has huge upside.

I think we will delist Gorringe, and I don't think Korcheck is going to make it.
If Casboult leaves, SOS certainly has work to do.

We need a ruckman, absolutely, but not if we are using our first pick say around pick 5. Midfielder with that pick.
Apart from Phillips, we need a back up ruckman if Kreuzer gets injured, there are plenty at other clubs we could recruit.
A developing ruckman we need too but that is a late draft pick or rookie list pick.

I thought something similar when we played GWS a few weeks ago. Imagine if you play in front of around 10,000 for a home game and at away games you are lucky to have 500 supporters. To run out at the MCG in front of huge crowds is something players dream of. Same thing goes for Gold Coast. I went to the game two weeks ago and there were more Carlton supporters than Gold Coast, and it was their home game. Don't discount the players wanting to play in Melbourne for the crowd factor and being in the heart of footy.

I've been to a couple of games at Spotless stadium, admittedly a few years ago, and Blues fans made up the bulk of the crowd. Remember, a lot of these boys a Victorians, used to big footy crowds as the norm.
