Why are you looking at only the 2011 semi? The reason we were there in the first place was because of players like Judd.

Any of those 3 would not provide anywhere near the benefit that Kelly does. So still, you don't really have a solid point here. Saying they'll improve our side, well yeah, a lot of players would improve our side greatly. But bringing in Hopper alone will still cost us a first round pick and the benefit of getting him vs taking a player in the first round isn't going to be as great as the benefit of getting Kelly.

If Kelly nominates us, pick #3 + change should be enough to get the deal done. I said this LONG before MS3's post by the way. Simple reason is GWS are not going to risk losing him for nothing. Chances are Casboult goes and we get a 2nd rounder out of it. Those 2 picks will get it done imo, he is not contracted. If you don't agree, congrats, you have a different opinion.

Your are right on one point, I don't agree. You keep thinking pick 3 + change will get the deal done, then we can both assess it come end of the draft.

Personally I think he will stay at GWS.

That's not why 40YB was pushed out either Harks. You are rewriting history there.

What was 40yb right about Harks? Content, maybe? The way he went about it, absolutely not.

Abrasive, divisive posting styles don't win any support, nor should they right?

That said, I'm often very disappointed by the responses I read to differing opinions on here. And in many ways it keeps me from truly engaging with the forum.
 
Constructive opinions, err on the side of supporting the club not denigrating it at every turn, be willing to be part of the online community, exercise a little humility, articulate your objections.

Just some of the things we are looking for to foster inclusion and respect for each other.

The question I answered was, would one trade Charlie for Kelly. So I reversed the potential scenario - being out of contract and requesting a trade - to arrive at an answer of yes. Of course you don't want to see young talent request a trade, as I'm sure GWS don't with Kelly, but in such circumstances, it would definitely be making the most of unfortunate circumstances. Fortunately Charlie is not going anywhere, so we don't have seriously entertain the possibility, but I answered your hypothetical.

The "1st plus change" thing was not in the post I replied to.

No. For starters, Treloar cost two firsts and change.

Hopper is worth a first alone. Same with Whitfield. Kelly two firsts at minimum.

Kelly will cost too much. Swapping the Gibbs pick for Hopper and change (Griffin salary dump) would be a fantastic result.

Different first rounders. Gibbs two picks are 10+ (for example, Crows first and Eagles first which Crows get for McGovern). Kelly straight up is our pick 2 or 3 and I suspect we would have to add to that.
 
If Kelly chooses us, surely pick 2-3 straight up gets the job done.

It's under his value but you never get a good deal if an out of contract player wants to leave.

If we have to actually give up a fair trade, that equals the value of Kelly, we may aswell draft our own talent and develop them the way we want from day 1.

Avoids the jealousy of current players when they see a recruit getting 1mil for just rocking up as well.

In the up coming trade period as a supporter all id like to see is players that want to be at Carlton. Regardless of $ or Length of contract, id love to see the recruits hanging to don the navy blue and be part of something big in the coming years, i want to see the honour and privilege in wearing that CFC on your chest and giving all you have for it.

Posters lack of patience with contrary views really sh*ts me.

Some people keep slagging Brian Waldron yet he tipped the Gibbs to Crows move 8 weeks prior to last year's trade period - and many posters ridiculed him..

I take him seriously because he has runs on the board - even if I don't necessarily enjoy/agree with what he says.

It's ok to have different opinions Harks, its when the poster starts "playing the man" and stops discussing the topic at hand is when mod action needs to step in. Those posters who have been banned have been given warnings about their posting style and advised what will happen if they don't change.

You've been around here long enough to know this.
