I'd counter with heat maps, but with 41 disposals for the year from Pickett, there's not a lot of heat to go around. I get he's been injured, but 8 disposals average isn't enough.
Nice hyperbole statement right there...

Clearly suffering from lack of match fitness so far he has managed to rack up only 5 games this year coming back from his broken scaphoid - all indication in pre-season were he was going to have a monster year his JLT form was scintillating - just another disappointment for 2018 for the Club and a pointer to huge upside going forward.

I just wonder if there is an offer we could put to him that would see him leave Punt Rd.
He'd be perfect for us, and a great mentor for Bolts.
Agree he'd be a good choice exoerianced motivates change. Hard to swallow his past history on the field , but if beneficial to the team's evolution, do it something miraculous has happen at tigerland perhaps he is the catalyst.

I don't hear much but have heard from a person (who was involved with the Northern Blues)

Mitch McGovern to Blues for P.19 (PP)
Hannebery to Blues (details to be decided) as he has the shits with Horse for playing him injured.
Mitchell done deal at Blues.

Again, just passing on what I've heard, whether it plays out like that will wait to be seen.

Salary cap issues. Singularly.
He's contracted for next year though. So salary cap issue wouldn't be an issue.
I find it seriously hard to believe that GWS would sell a contracted Shiel, when they have a chance of winning the premiership next year. I call BS

Cannot see Adelaide letting a contracted McGovern go for pick 19 unless its involved in a deal for pick 1 as a whole.

Other deals i definitely can see happening and would like Hanners at the blues even if his body is cooked. Has always been one of the hardest workers and most professional at the swans.
Sam Mitchell is a no brainer and would be an excellent pick up.

It's possible that they over-commit to salary cap year on year, with the expectation that a headline talent will leave the club. The fact that doesn't appear to be happening organically this year could be putting them in a position where they need to force a move.

Once upon a time, their salary cap was shrinking year on year, is this still happening? Could be another factor.

FWIW, I've heard the same thing re: GWS Salary Cap from a contact connected to our club, but the player being spoken about was J Kelly.

I have a friend who knows someone within the Hawthorn FC who reckons Sam Mitchell to the Blues is a done deal.

I have no idea if this is reliable or not (probably not) but I'll run with it.
makes sense, Sam Mitchell could learn a lot from Patrick Cripps.

Whilst Justin Reid is at Adelaide, they will never let go of a contracted Mitch McGovern for anything less than a top 10 pick. Which is overs, and why we should walk away.

Hannebery can come to the club for the right deal, but could be Daisy Mk II. Want to get some independent medical assessment on that.

Not sure if we need McGovern, Mckay and Curnow two better long term prospects in attack. He does fit the hole in our profile let him take Jones spot in defense?.

When I think Hannebery coming to the Blues could work as it reminds me of how banged up Judd was when he came. He came after 6 seasons. Hannebery is way longer in the tooth.

I like the potential Mitchell appointment as he is driven, no nonsense and one of the Hawks unsociable football instigators. We could do with a harder edge. Can we put a clause in Mitchell's contract that every time we play * he signals injection time?

Well he wants to be in melb and would know bolts from his time at hawthorn...plus Cam Bruce.

Is a newbie in terms of coaching, so joining a young team from the beginning and being part of the rise could appeal...we may also give him more responsibility.

Well said. A fit Pickett has the potential to be a star and a very dangerous offensive weapon for us. Would love to see him play that high half forward role & used through the middle of the ground. That run, carry & delivery into our forwards is so exciting when he gets it.

From the coach's survey...

In other highlights of the survey, the coaches said:
  • Stacking a forward line with smaller players was the most important tactical innovation of the past three years
Remember the days we were getting bagged for having the “3 amigos”? And now we’re on the other end spectrum again. Haha
