Am I the only one who doesn't want GWS to get their hands on pick 1?
I am sick of all the draft picks that they received, the academy players and the AFL assistance they have had.
They have so much talent that cannot get games and if clubs continue to give them early draft picks in trades then the cycle will never end.

Correct I can't have it both ways. But I do know that of the rfa's and ooc players that'll be on their list next year, Kelly, Coniglio and Shiel are at the top of their priority list. Followed by Lobb and Tomlinson. They will be looking to do whatever they can to ensure they keep those 3 mids on their list.

I've got no doubt that SOS has targeted Shiel and that he will be the major get next year. Kelly is also a possibility but somewhat unlikely that we get both. This is why I think Shiel + Cerra would be a great haul next year and allows us to keep a 1st round pick as Cerra will likely cost us 1 whereas Kelly would cost us 2. We just need to be patient. One more year.
I think I just found the back-pedal of the year. Maybe the best in my time here. Witheringly hilarious.

Here's a very long drawn bowed conspiracy theory:
AFL give us a pointy end PP, say pick 3 or 5, with express understanding that we will use pick 1 to trade with Giants for Shiel and also maybe Setterfield for a one of our seconds. AFL know that Shiel wants out this year and that we won't trade pick 1 ATM to do it, they also know that they are very keen to get Lukosious and this is a way of killing two birds with one stone, giving us some very good assistance and getting GWS their new marquee player.

I was thinking about the idea of marquee players last night at the GWS game, when a very friendly Blues supporting policeman came over to chat with me when he saw my Blues cap. He was telling me about plans to increase the ground capacity at Manuka to 25-35 thousand, but the ACT government was concerned about getting numbers through the gate to justify it. He was very knowledgable and clearly had chatted to various GWS personnel. 'Marquee players get people through the gates' seemed to be their theory. Giants were extremely keen on Buddy but that didn't pan out. Maybe they see Lukosious in a different light to the rest of us. Helping to strengthen their brand, everyone loves a strong forward.

A lot of building sides are bringing in veterans to play an on-field mentor sort of role.
Yes that's true but i'm guessing Eddie's special talents are not something you can easily teach. He's very instinctive and creative. In his own words "i just make stuff up".

I think it was last year when somebody sent in a rumour about Eddie keen to come back in a coaching role eventually.

Agree, like Eddie but it would go against what SOS said about building a team for sustained success. Not building for a spike up the ladder.

I'd Rather see that list spot used on a younger player.

This!

Also Eddie turns 32 in November.
