I can't even fathom finishing last next year. That would be ridiculous... We need to at some stage win a few games for everyone's sake. The jungle drums at news Corp and every other media outlet will be thumping if we finish last next year and rightfully so.

I didn't think we would finish last this year … let alone next :( :( :(

But then again I didn't know we were going to have 14 odd players out for most of the year either …. *sigh*

Pretty much what it comes down to .
The ability of us getting close to our best side on the field next year .
No side can cope with the volume of injuries weve had let alone a young bottom 4 list .
Another reason we should be bolstering our midfield if possible at the end of this year .

Depending upon draft/trade period I am very confident of anything between 6-12 wins. Finishing last won’t happen

Did you see that crap on the main board about Lyons coming to Carlton …. I nearly died with laughter.

After the weekends results , it looks as tho Pick 1 is ours..
Shiel is not worth missing out on Lukosious for.... This kid in our forward line with Charlie .. lordy me....
I reckon SOS will find another way to get Shiel.. But we must get this lad Lukosious..
I want to know is he an athlete that can run all day and has got pace?
If not..next

P Cripps contract update:

He will definitely sign at least a two year contract in the coming weeks. There is some discussion about a longer contract being signed now (4 years), list management team has been wanting to lock in other pieces (murphy + free agents) before being able to determine what we can afford to pay and how much we can front load a longer contract.

Two year deal was pretty much done and dusted around the time Charlie signed his and then cripps/management team opened up possibility of a longer contract and thus the delay.

"The Australian
revealed exclusively last week that Carlton have identified Greater Western Sydney star Dylan Shiel as their priority recruiting target this year. Shiel, recognised as one of the best midfielders in the competition, is contracted until the end of next year, when he will become eligible for free agency.

However, the Blues will make a play for him with a trade bid a year before he comes on to the open market by offering their first selection in the November national draft to the Giants. Carlton will have to convince Shiel their rebuild is heading in the right direction despite a failure to win more than seven games a season in the past five years. The Blues have been the least successful of the 16 “traditional” clubs since the start of 2000, winning just 157 of their 421 games."

Hmmm.... the trade rumours gaining traction …. I really didn't think SOS would play it this way … wonder if Crippa was dropping hints he wants help now??

SOS confident he can get other clubs to overpay to upgrade to our first round pick, whatever that ends up being (especially if it's #1 or #2). Will make a play for Dylan Shiel this year again confident we can get him for unders given GWS has salary cap pressure going into 2019 and know they won't be able to retain him from 2020 onwards.

Edited to add: SOS will happily walk away from shiel this year if it doesn't pan out. Senior players would like to get more support in sooner rather than later though

Who's the overpayment coming from? Adelaide? Dangerous if so, they are likely to offer 2 second round picks for Pick 1

Any word on other trade targets?

Thanks for sharing info 10c

So how much money do we actually have available to lure mature age recruits?

Would we be able to try to get Tom Lynch as a FA.

Landing a ready made star forward might allow us to trade McKay as part of the Sheil deal, and allow us to keep our first pick.

Adding lynch, Sheil, Lukosius/Walsh... plus one or two role playing mids, we could see some rapid, rapid rise up the ladder.
