Not easily done, but would be amazing if we could recruit a mature age rookie who has an immediate impact like Michael Barlow did.

A cheap, solid body in the middle to take the hits for a few years while kids add experience and size.
Would rather it be more along the lines of a Kelly......(the Geelong model that is)......."ferrisb"

Scully would be great for his professionalism and leadership, but Setterfield could be the icing on the cake for a very talented midfield.

We need mature mids anyway who will impact straight away...setterfield is basically like a new draftee since he hasn't played.

Whilst he is not in the mature mould we ideally want, he isn't a kid either, next year will be his 3rd or 4th year? Although not many games he would still have a much higher output than a new draftee.

I’ve heard he’s restricted. Any contract gurus around?

Got the Wallis boss via a Carlton supporter who knows this ex-Dogs player. Says he has heard also we are after an injured Giant. That could be Setterfield by the look of it. Paul Ahearn type gamble. I think it’s him coz didn’t we bid on him before getting SPS and he’s got a ACL injury. Surely not Patton.
Setterfield is mates with Kennedy as they both come from the same country area in NSW I think it is..........read an article about the two of them and how they grew up playing footy together as kids, so it probably is him.

Dude, that's Perryman. Setterfield is from Albury.

I know there's not many north fans for you to talk to, but making a Carlton BF acc and trying to talk north with us is just sad.
Yeh I just find list management interesting because I bet no one on here would've swapped positions with them at the start of the season (in list terms) but they are just another example that there are so many ways to build a list and there really is no right or wrong way of doing it

I don't really rate their young group as highly as others. Their best players, are the older brigade( more quality than we have)and lack middle tier players like we do.

I think they will remain mid table and drop again once the older guys fade or retire

I don't rate them highly either but they are still performing and if they could turn their first into say a Setterfield and than get Thomas than they have a bloody exciting young midfield and it wouldn't surprise me if they will have rebuilt without bottoming out.

If we were in their position for example I bet my bottom dollar there would be "rumours" on here of us bringing in Gaff, Setterfield and Thomas at the end of the season, all being somewhat realistic. (Who knows maybe Kelly next year) I think they realistically could rebuild and contend a hell of a lot quicker than us and I bet not many people would've thought that just 5 months ago.

Like SOS said, it's easy to build a list to finish 8th.

Yeh I don't get that. That's a massive cop out for me. People thought Richmond had done exactly that.
All he is doing is justifying fully bottoming out because it is his theory of how to rebuild, which is fair enough but it's obviously not the only way
