no. cripps then murphy and maybe gibbs. curnow is a worker but it falls away quickly in quality & depth. top 2 b&f was docherty & simmo. half backs. i think its our biggest weakness in amongst a weak list

We need to build a list. This is a brilliant trade. If we can somehow get a mid teens pick back then we're a crack at another Patrick cripps that nobody wanted with their top 10.

Perhaps but 'worth' and what you pay for him are 2 different things. e.g. Sam Docherty - worth pick 12, we picked him up for 33.

Where is the bargain in the Marchbank situation by handing over pick 5? Personally I'd grab an 18 year old midfielder but if SOS is convinced Caleb is "the one", then so be it.

then we must be closer than i thought. Being blind i just took it for granted that being in the top group for clearences and getting the ball moving made for a decent midfield.
I love Doc but seriously, how often does he turn it over coming out of defence? Would you take Touhy over a Christou type? Is Rowe taking us forward as a full back? How long has Simmo got? And then who is left? Two kids in weits and plowman.

Problem is the where is the offer going to come from....?
GCFC appear to have cooled from last year. Hawks (probably too many queries over his work rate) as a left field option if they lose some through trades..? A lot to play out over trade period. Bring it back to trade week or 3 days.

They are easily disposing of them apart from Marchbank.

It shouldn't work that way. You can't just offload players you're looking to get rid of anyway for such a high draft pick.

For pick #5 they need to throw in a clear best 22 youngster. They won't but that's what we should be asking for because that's what we'll get with that pick.

It's laughable to suggest that Murphy was the sole reason our midfield went down this year.
This was is worst year since 2007, and at the time of his injury he was 10th in the B&F count.

Just because we trade for them doesn't mean that they have to play in the 1's... of course it would be great but we are also after depth. This deal gets us depth in the backline and consequently if everyone is fit, in the forward line too.

Sos isn't a KPP and personally I don't think CC is either.

Picks 12 and 30 for Marchbank and the others (I'm not sure on Ahern's situation but I'd be trying to include him).

Picks 12 and 30 = 1897 points
