Pick 23 and next years first rounder for Marchbank, Pickett, pick 7 and 16 this year

5,7 and 16 this year

Trade into mid to late first/early second round next year with Tuohy/Casboult et al
We cannot afford to trade next years first round draft pick... unless we can manage to swing a top 3 pick in return.

Plus his decision making is dreadful - some of his efforts when he finds himself alone with the ball.......let's just say @meb can really launch a donut.
Not one from the Preston markets I am hoping... get the ones from Woolies... you can get some serious distance with them!

He is a phone-box below his knees. ZERO mobility with a turning circle of Jupiter. His marking is nowhere near what it used to be. He collects the ball on the wing.................great................we already have 2 wingmen who do that..........
And then waits...and waits...and waits...until all the players are in the best position...their players that is. Drove me just as spare as his goal kicking.

Just doesn't have it between the ears. He is a confidence player with no confidence.

Exactly he is bereft of any confidence.

Never really recovered after that injury earlier in the season. Looked liked he was just about to turn the corner.....

I guess next year is make or break for the big fella. At worst he's cheap insurance for the kids.......

So he still has a better turning circle than Uranus?

Pick #23 IMO.

Tuesday, 19 April 2016
Jarrod Pickett will miss the rest of the season after becoming the latest player to suffer a Lisfranc injury.
Pickett went down during the second quarter of the Giants' reserves match in Canberra after landing awkwardly in a marking contest and will have surgery to repair the fracture in his foot.

"It's an unfortunate injury for Jarrod who has been progressing really well," GWS head of athletic performance David Joyce said.

"As is always the case with our players, Jarrod's long-term welfare is the most important thing so we'll put in place a rehabilitation program to ensure he returns stronger than ever."

This club in recent times is known for embarrassing decision after embarrassing decision. Re-signing Levi could may as well be another one of those.

Are we really going to sit and hope that a leopard can change its spots? I'm sure he is just as frustrated as the next person when it comes to his own kicking but that is not the only issue he has. It's consistency! Some games this year he would completely go missing and even lose his marking ability.
I will accept that half of the reason is because he is the only tall in our forward line at times, but it is also not hard to notice how limited he can be.

Suppose one year is fine, but anymore than that would just tell me that rebuilding must not be in our plans.

I'm sure SOS would have explored all avenues and it's likely there wasn't much he found. At the very least, Casboult protects the youngsters for another year. If he has another year like 2016 next year, you'd think he'll be out the door.

Hopefully after the 2017 off-season, all the deadwood will have been removed and from 2018-onwards we'll be cleansed of the 2008-2014 horrors.

We've signed him for 12 months. Its hardly a terrible decision. In fact, its smart business with our young forwards still developing.

Just be thankful it did not go that way, and that the deal is one year.

Thought next I'd be hearing that Jones gets his contract extended, Thomas gets a multi-million dollar deal and Cripps gets delisted.
They better not even be rumours.

Fair, I'm not familiar with this years crop of draftees, this there a drop off after 5?
According to my research, yes. I'd be gutted if we traded pick 5. According to Knightmare there's around 4 zone selections near the top 10 and if you swap 5 for 7 it may end up being more like 9.

Reckon we'll get another first rounder for Touhy and on trade that for Marchbank and Pickett.

We just cannot trade pick 5, which is looking like a hugely valuable selection with the amount of talent that will be available. I mean any one of McCluggage, Brodie, SPS, McGrath, Ainsworth or Marshall would be a fantastic outcome. Especially if we get Marchbank and Pickett.

We need to keep pick 5 now that the Scottish suitcase is now being rated at #1 in the draft! It might mean that Brodie may slip to pick 5 :D

The Jarrod Pickett rumour came to me as a surprise, but he does have pace.

I also read that we are interested in Matthew Buntine (GWS) and Brandon Matera (GC).
Buntine is a lad I've liked the look of, but he is a HBF. Insurance if Tuohy decides to move on?
I didn't like the Matera rumour. He is seriously overrated and doesn't work hard enough offensively or defensively. However, those are some of the newer names doing the rounds.

I have noted that the majority of guys looking for new opportunities appear to be interested in joining us (or we are looking at them). I note this with interest and consider this rumour to have a LOT of legs.
which rumour has legs Beo?

I can see it happening...Freo and Brisbane are less likely given they are interstate sides with different needs. Freo will surely take either SPS or Marshall. GC take Bowes and then we swoop on Brodie. Perfect!
