Tbh mate let them hate on me and slam me I don't care I'll keep posting away
Like your work with passing on rumours from other sources - I'd just recommend that when they come from media outlets like SEN etc, you actually put that in the post. Otherwise, it seems as though it's inside word from club officials like what we get from Vafa, Marc Smurph and Barrass etc. They are rumours all the same, but significantly different because of the source.

Over on the NM board they're trying to work out how to send Aaron Black and Sam Gibson our way, despite our coach telling the world we're only trading for younger players.

Going to be a long few weeks.

They realistically have 4-5 younger players we'd be into.

They also have pick 11.

If neither are on the table, where's the deal?

They'll need to get a third club involved if they think they can get something like a late first / very early second to send us for Zac.

So, in all likelihood, this one will go down to the wire like the Yarran trade, and we'll waste a lot of time arguing with NM supporters, it'll get personal and then the clubs will do business and everyone will claim victory.

Okay mate. I'll do that from now on. Everitt one was from the club, huge argument with K.Simpson I can guarantee he won't at the B&F and Carlton next year

What pick would we get for Simpson and who would trade for him? Knowing the AFL he'd go as a free agent and, ala Waite, we'd get zero compensation.

But then we lose one of Kerr/Clarke/etc.
Not confident either improves our quality as a team, only adding to our depth.
They have a shorter AFL lifespan and if we improve our midfield quality will not be in the team.

That said we got two mids from Adelaide last year (Wright and Kerridge) for the loss of Menzel with the GWS4 thrown in. If we can do that sort of deal again (Do they want Boek?) that would be amazing.
Who are these guys? How has an unknown kid picked in the middle of the draft got more chance of improving us than 2 people who have already proven they are AFL standard?

We need to stop talking about draft picks like known quantities, particularly after the first round. We need depth and both of those guys are better than Graham. The odds are hugely against pick 25 (or whatever it turns out to be) turning into anything other than a solid foot soldier like, say a Cam Ellis-Yeoman or Jarryd Lyons.

That's pretty huge. Knowing the different attitudes from the two players it makes me think it's something along the lines of Simpson not happy with Everitt's effort and work ethic or something. Obviously hope that's not the case though.

But CEY and Lyons have already shown they will never be A Graders.
At least with the kids there is still a chance, ie. Fyfe, Mitchell, etc. type picks.
And we need a team of A graders, or we will never beat GWS.

The chances of building a list of the quality of GWS is very, very remote.

In that case it's about getting good value with them. They won't be A graders, but no lineup consists of 22 A graders. I'd back CEY to get to a solid B, B+ level. Depth is just as important as the cream. He would probably be starting 22 for us. I don't know enough about Lyons to comment on him..

If we get them for the right price they're well and truly worth it.

I get the attraction but the prospects of drafting an A-grader at that point in the draft is slim imo, particularly given how sophisticated recruiting has become. It could happen I suppose and the club will decide whether it's worth the risk. I'm just saying that it's basically rolling the dice at that point.

Never gonna get a team of A-graders, mate.

Hawthorn won three flags with solid citizens like:

Spangher
McEvoy
Guerra
Hale
Bailey
Hill
Simpkin
Stratton
Langford
Duryea
Schoenmakers
Shiels

None of them are elite, most of them play a role and do it well, some of them are limited.

What we need to do is improve our top end with high draft picks, and improve our 15-35th players incrementally whenever it's prudent. Doing both improves our list twice as fast as only focusing on one.

.
I bet they're using the argument 'but they'd be best 22 players at Carlton'.

Did it go along the lines of:

Simpson: "Hey Dre, any chance of putting in ???"

id much rather Grigg and CEY.

both have been starved for opportunity and imo, both have shown enough potential to be quality players.

Wouldnt give up anything but late 2nd/3rd round.

both would be an upgrade to graham and would give some inside help to cripps.

lyons has had one good year, in a very good and structured team. i dont think he would have the same impact with us.

Impossible actually, if you want to talk about how highly each player is rated and how high they go in the draft.

We need to hope we have superior game plan, execution and culture, because comparing each player we amd pretty much no other club will match them over the next 5 years in this regard.
