Hey everybody, long time. Haven't read through the last 10 -15 pages so sorry if repeating.
"the" top dog at the Blues just told my brother Kelly is 100% staying and not coming to us, usually tight lipped so strongly believe this to be the case if said out loud, just passing on.

Just passing on the message GWS and Kelly's manager want us to ;)

Fraser Brown??

Edit: uh!!! Beaten by that much!

Who knows what to believe anymore...

But him saying that is in line with what most others are saying including barrass...HOWEVER the fact he has put off the contract till the end of the year and i think there's a good chance GWS and Kelly's manager have simply told other clubs and media personalities that to lower the distraction.

MS3 just earlier said Kelly is still undecided.
I'm starting to believe this 'smoke screen' story and I think Kelly will come to us.

I mean think about it, GWS are a pack of 'swinging dicks' without a soul. A team of individual champions with no club history, nothing to play for (except maybe having their name in the inaugural Flag team), but they are thankless wins. No-one up in Western Sydney gives a shit about them and it's no wonder they want to come home. Sure the new draftees are stoked with the $$ they are on, and there is the lure of big cash for the delisted past champs, but that won't last. The AFL cannot prop them up forever.

Compare that to the team who has a proud history but unfortunately been languishing around on the bottom of the ladder for 20 odd years.
Now they have got the right people in place and all of a sudden are seen as a destination club who are on the rise. Surely if not the fact that we beat GWS themselves, then the scenes of the rapture from the Navy Army when we broke the hoodoo against Hawthorn this year. I honestly thought the stands above me might break loose from all the stamping and cheering.

Combine Big $$ and a team that's going places with a supporter base that loves them, I know where I'd want to play.

You would be mad not to!

I know it doesn't make sense, but I'd like to see Stringer in Blue.

I hear the nos already...and i begrudgingly agree...

Don't want to pay what they would want. I'm all about value players like Marchy and Doch.
We need midfielders urgently.
We don't need another Fev like character at the club.
He was in poor form in 2017 so is high risk if the cost is high

I know, many more reasons not to take this guy. But I cant help but picture a re-engaged Stringer and Curnow causing absolutely havoc in our fwd 50. At his best, he really is the package. Can he rediscover the magic? He is only young still! Imagine two freaks!

If we could manufacture pick 25...then I'd risk it!

but but...where would this leave my other golden child Silver! Oh damn it, screw stringer! I wed myself to the Silvagni family in the 90s!

Was at a uni party and met this guy, I shook his hand and said my first name he replied with Jack Lonie St.Kilda player. No from me.
you probably shouldn't have opened with MitchRobinson12, freelance internet football expert
As proof that SOS can plan for any contingency, he has already recruited a young John Connor...

'come with me, if you want to play'

GWS's problem is their coach - not their players.

edit: and I think they will smash WC
Yes sort of agree......because he doesn`t seem to have built them into a unit/team and they rely on someone stepping up now and again, not a collective group........they had better find their best this week or see ya later 2017 season!!! At least if they go out in straight sets we might get to hear if Kelly is staying or coming to the bluebaggers!!! Think they should beat W.C. up in Sydney also.

Missing out on Kelly might be a blessing. I've been getting pretty excited lately about potentially drafting Rayner or Dow.

I'm feeling the same way, but just wondering whether I'm simply conditioning myself to do so. Not sure.
Fact is we don't know what's happening, as so far we've had 95% coming and 95% not coming. Maybe just the manager playing games.

Have no fear going to the draft with pick #3, as long as we can get Kennedy with something relatively small.
Then there would be no selling off next years first either. Not the worst position to be in right now.

We need more than just Kelly, so the cost of handing off multiple high picks for one player vs grabbing potentially two great players out of the draft. It seems like the latter is more important than the former right now.

It's a precarious balance, though. Certainly within 3 years when Murphy & Gibbs are pretty much gone (assuming Gibbs stays), the a-grade middle at the right age bracket needs to be addressed.

Funnily if the Roos think the addition of Kelly into their midfield turns them from cellar dwellers to contenders, they're having a laff. They have more problems than us in my opinion.

Find it very interesting Kelly hasn't signed. Surely there is nothing more he can learn from here. If he was to stay I thought he would have signed before finals like Martin did.

The fact that he hasn't................................
It really is just a big guessing game.

Scenario 1:
They win - 'I've got a flag now, time to move on to new challenges'
They lose - 'Gee that was close, might hang around for 2 more to chase a flag or two'

Scenario 2:
They win - 'That was great, reckon we might be able to snag 2-3 in a row here, I might stay'
They lose - 'This bunch of individuals are all out for themselves, we'll never win one with their attitudes'

Scenario 3:
It makes no difference if they win or lose, he's genuinely torn about leaving.

I'm leaning more towards scenario 3 now.

Brown said Kelly was going to Carlton ("lock it in Gerard") on the couch a couple months back...... hard to take seriously.

I thought he said we were frontrunners at that particular stage. Not sure he said he was absolutely going to Carlton.

Fair enough.
Happy to take Kennedy off their hands though.

Media tend to see players putting off negotiations till the end of season as a bad sign for the club that they are at. AFIC there's absolutely nothing wrong with a player deciding he wants to concentrate purely on footy until their last match, to me it's very professional.

Plus Kelly isn't in the fish bowl of AFL cities so all the speculation is just reverberating around Melb, Perth and Adelaide. There's every chance he's not feeling under any pressure at all.
