This place is a lot like watching a current affair.

One day bread is good for you, the next day an article saying bread is bad for you.

Man, I am confused.
Coming up on BigFooty Tonight.....Trade Hypotheticals you CANNOT afford to miss.

i don't know why people seem to have locked in 10 for Gibbs. Crows would be mad to do it now. Hearing our posters go to their board to suggest it, is pretty funny though

Saad - Would like him. Feels like he fits the * style of play more than ours though

Oh FWIW - few Port people here have reported Rocky is staying with Boak while he's in town. Make of that what you will
Far more likely to be something like 17 and 27 imo...which are good picks to on trade for the likes of Kennedy, Smith and saad.

Not questioning premise - just playing devil's advocate; talks of this draft being so shallow that prospects outside of top 4-5 (!!) is potluck and can throw a blanket over all of them. So why would GWS accept late 1st rounders or mid 2nd round picks?

Saads interesting......picks mean little to the Suns now. They have that many already....you would think they would be after players happy to move up north

Maybe we can offer up next years second this years 3rd and a player (graham) for Saad and one of the second rounders they have this year (and maybe a 4th rounder )

Send that second to GWS for Kennedy and smith and a salary dump

Boom

Doubt this would be legit. Why would we offer a 5 year contract without a medical on the knee (which is supposed to be problematic)?
Yeah what kind of club would offer a long deal to a guy with a suspect injury *cough* Daisy *cough*

If the money is right and it's not degenerative and the cash isn't bad, it's not so bad. He is a very good player - don't buy into those who say he ain't good.

What is idiotic and naive is the notion that draft picks plus youf = success.
In a small way he is right... Draft picks + youth == sustained success.

SOS and the club has been tossing around the 66 game rebuild. I don't think that they see it the same way that Mal does... where we spend 3 years and 4 offseasons building up a core of young players, then taking another 2 years to develop them to the point where we start fighting for a top 8 spot.

I see the 66 game rebuild in two distinct areas that are running concurrently. Drafting and recruitment, led by SOS and training and development, led by Bolts. With all this going on at the same time, the core of guys we drafted, along with the guys we traded in who had a couple of years development under their belts already, from 2 years ago will make up the core of our ever expanding list of talented and experienced players... who mixed with a diminishing core of older experienced players will see us ready to start pushing for a finals berth or a spot just out of the top 8 in 2019.

Come the end of the trade and draft period next year, our rebuild will be over... guys like Weitering and Charlie Curnow will have 50-60 games worth of experience and that's going to be the start of the years of success for the club... and the trade and draft practices put into place by SOS will see us continue to grow and expand our list... and I can never see us needing to use top up players to fill holes in our list because we will have the continued stream of players through the club who will be able to step into the holes if any form.

Generally speaking, any sensible club in the AFL would only offer 5+ year deals to A-graders (Kelly, Franklin, Martin, B.Brown etc.)

Devon Smith is currently B-C grader who is injury prone, the list management department should be sacked if they recruit him on a 5 year deal. Josh Francou is a nim-wit.
five years is almost certainly not five but something like (3+1+1) or (2+2+1) for your mid range players.
