I brought this up a long time ago, that the best theoretical trade situation (while compensation is around) is to trade out your contracted 26-28yos, bag the compo, and then bring in 'free' replacements. Or to let an FA go, bag the compo, wait a year and bring in an FA.

Of course this kind of brutal list management of forcing out contracted players and club stalwarts shows disloyalty and breeds resentment in the playing list.

BUT if it's the player the instigates the move.....jackpot. You can take advantage of the situation and not take any blame. You basically get to create free picks out of thin air. Win-win.
I've been saying similar.

Ideally bring in FA's for free one year - then let ours go for compensation the next.

Rinse and repeat!!!!!

Every year the squad gets stronger and deeper.

the real interest here atm is who HARKER is giving his 50k post to..........
Said to myself that I'll quit before I get to 50K.
Still sitting on it and even cleared some old posts to drag me back under the number, to make some more posts.
Can I not take that bugs bunny dog if I do crack the 50? Mods?

We are going to have significant improvement next year. Cripps with a pre-season is basically a new recruit as well.

best 22= Cripps, Rockliff, Kennedy, Smith all in for Graham, Kerridge/Fisher (depending where we are at), Daisy, Lamb.

That's a massive improvement
yep, as long as the ins are an improvement on those they are replacing - I'm down with it..........

I highly doubt that age 31+ Murph, Gibbs, Rocky and a few picks at #10+ will take us to 18 that's why.
Gibbs is not 31 until 2020 and Rocky 2021.
To be clear, you think we won't get to 18 with those guys and a few picks 10 plus (ignoring 1st round picks Cripps, Doc, Plowman, SPS, Charlie, Harry, Weiters, pick 3, Kruz and possibly Kennedy but you think if we swap this few picks 10 plus with ones that are 6-10 we will?

We can get the ball out of the backline alright but could do with someone like Saad that can carry it for 30-40 metres.
I just don't trust him as he seems to be a player that plays for self first and team after. I may be wrong though, but I would like that small exit player to have some real mongrel about them and not just some pretty run and carry. Still holding out for Pickett to become that but maybe he's better served elsewhere.
Perhaps, with the kind of team defence mindset we have in our side, a one-on-one with Saad defending won't be seen as such a big issue? Perhaps, the positives of that blistering speed of his will be too tempting to resist for Bolts/SOS.

I don't think it's merely something 'we could use'. I think we're crying out for it, Harks. I just can't see pickett as that guy - just seems so likely to be mid/forward for mine, with very good goal sense.
