Two things will happen with the Kelly situation:
1. He nominates Carlton and that's where he ends up
2. He does not nominate Carlton and ends up somewhere else
The difference between us getting/not getting Kelly will not be 1/2 spots on the ladder.

You want to keep collecting number one picks for finishing last, great. No need to go on and one, raining on peoples' parades.

Probably where it needs to be .
Who needs pick 1,2,3 etc etc We got Cripps with pick 13, Curnow with pick 12 and McKay with pick 10.
I think our recruitment department have earned enough credit over the last few drafts for us to think just get them picks and they'll do a decent job of finding a good player regardless of where the pick lies.
Any top 4-5 pick is enough to start a trade conversation for a player like Kelly.

Reckon Kelly costs pick 4 plus ...
I'd rather take pick 4 to the draft as i don't think we're in a position to be giving up 2 for 1 trades .

I dont care what the second piece of the puzzle is. Kelly is worth pick #4 and change.
Kelly is better than Crippa imo.
You wouldn't give up pick 4 and something else to land such an elite player, someone who makes a star like Cripps your second best onballer?
What an amazing 1-2 midfield punch that would be.
Remember Kelly is a known quality, pick 4 whoever it is isn't.

It's the something else on top of pick 4 that troubles me .
GWS won't part with this guy lightly .
If we have to pay what Collingwood did for Treloar in two first rounders I think i'd do it. Treloar is very good, but Kelly is better.
Ideally i'd rather we paid for it all this season than use next seasons picks. So if that means a Levi compo pick or trading Gibbs to get that extra something i'd do it.

Kelly is on another level to Treloar .
It sounds very much like Gibbs is staying and whatever compo Casboult returns if he leaves won't be enough on top of pick 4 .
Top price will rightly be demanded for Kelly .
