Mike Sheahan on radio this morning said Thomas believes he won't be playing next year. Was confident in his comments
I must admit I was wanting him to be gone halfway through the season but he has turned this around and won me over in the 2nd half of this year. Now I'm very surprised to hear this from Daisy's mouth after only Bolts himself said that Daisy was important to the club in that his leadership on field was exceptional.
Also the fact that his second half of the season has been pretty good, as well as the good will he showed the club in releasing them from the contract, I think if the club didn't give him another 1 year contract, this would impact negatively on the club and the supporters would be pissed off.

EDIT: Unless the Club has an off field role for him in player development or coaching...

Not sure I agree with that, reckon Mumford and Lamb were and you can probably add Everitt to them also.
Lamb and Mumford were cross town scalps by the new team as mini victories. Swans weren't paying Everitt much and were not fussed where he went.

Ultimately the point is they haven't lost anyone that 'hurts'. Membrey, Nankervis, Lamb, Everitt, White etc were all coverable and they kept all the talented ones. It'd be a more relevant discussion if Franklin came across and they lost any of JPK, Hannebery, Mcveigh, Jack etc.

That wasn't the question or statement I was replying to, It was asked who have the Swans lst other than Tom Mitchell and I provided some players who have left.

Cross town rivals don't snare senior players without offering them better financial terms.

Think they could use Nankervis in the upcoming finals series.

Nank was liked by the club but he didn't want to be the 2nd ruckman. Was told he'd be behind Sinclair again this year.

Thats not the point. They were happy for him to go before they signed the Franklin deal, it wasn't a shock to the Swans hierarchy that he was gone. Not saying they got the call right, just saying that wasn't unforeseen and it was considered in the offer for Franklin.

So wrt Kelly. If we do offer a 9 year deal it wont be at the expense of being able to sign our key players. If a 9 year deal forces players out of Carlton, it will be players that the club is happy to see go, whether that be because they see ready replacements coming through or something else...

Adelaide are vehemently opposed to giving two 1st rounders. Maybe we could get ~15 and 16 if we throw in a 2018 2nd in, but probably still unlikely.

The way Adelaide may see it:
-A single mid 1st (~9-12)
-A later 1st (15-17) + a late pick/pick upgrade
-A later 1st and a young/fringe mid (e.g. Poholke, Wigg)
Sure, but Gibbs still has 2 years left on his contract and Adelaide has to make an offer better than last year ... why would SOS just let Gibbs go?
