9, 28 and steak knives for Dangerfield.

4, 19 and steak knives for Kelly?

Oh, how horribly unfair for GWS.

And Beams for 5, 25 & Crisp.

People have short memories, but at the time Beams was an absolute young gun midfielder who was basically the complete package.

Kelly is a gun, but let's not pretend he's the best midfielder to hit the scene since Judd. Beams had shown just as much at the time he was traded and Dangerfield was already basically the best midfielder in the entire comp when he got traded.

That is Kelly's worth. Just because Collingwood got sucked into trading 2 x 1st picks doesn't mean we have to.

Not having pick 1 will make obtaining Kelly easier in my opinion.
Pick 1 alone was never going to be enough for GWS and we would not want to give it up either.

Tend to think you are right. 2 first rounders including a top 5 and a top 10 is the minimum. Rayner still has question marks over his rank. Not the massive standout some other number 1s have been.

Are you saying you'd be happy to trade our 2017 AND 2018 1sts for Kelly?

If we gave that up i'd want GWS' 2018 1st back.

We're just laying odds that next year's pick will be around the 10 mark. Kelly is guaranteed elite. Bird in the hand is worth 2 in the draft and all that.

Two things will happen with the Kelly situation:
1. He nominates Carlton and that's where he ends up
2. He does not nominate Carlton and ends up somewhere else

The difference between us getting/not getting Kelly will not be 1/2 spots on the ladder.
Right, but pick #1 probably would have gotten it done.

With pick #4 GWS will porbably want another asset. Say the Casboult pick or Cuningham (not re-signed yet).

Potentially pick 4 and pick 7-10 in a direct swap for Kelly is overs.
Would make it the most expensive trade in history in terms of draft picks since we traded for Judd...no thanks.

You're getting a little carried away if you'd be willing to part with that much for Kelly.

I keep saying this but Dangerfield & Beams were acquired for FAR less.

Even if you want to bring up Treloar, Collingwood gave up pick 7, their 2018 1st which they thought would be around pick 14 & then got a second rounder BACK from GWS. Yes Kelly is a better player but that is again paying way more than what Collingwood did.

He is OOC and if he nominates Carlton, no way do we give up pick 4 and 7-10.
