Plenty of talent in the top 10 this year 7G. Talls/mids/flankers.
Certainly seems to be , everyone agrees it will be a super draft. I think 7G's point was that Lokosius will likely go first in the draft.

At this stage ... no doubt. But there is 8 months between now and then and things shift dramatically and have done every draft. What is a clear No1 now may not be then ... plenty of sliders to prove the merit and ladder climbers. All subjective and in the eyes on the recruiters.

He's not a free agent yet but if things don't improve at the Dockers Bennell could be available for effectively nothing.

How about a reborn Yarran?

SOS's m.o. has been to pick up elite but tainted talent for little or no outlay. I'd be looking more at these options than a Gaff or McGovern.

I thought we were exploring possibilities. Isn't it a bit premature to put lines through names? Surely one of the benefits of developing a stong culture is to help these unforfilled talents to flourish.

You can say what you like about Bennell's off field antics (not sure how well you know him), but he's certainly got plenty of talent.

Obviously Yarran and Bennell are not likely to be at Carlton next year, but you can't deny SOS's propensity to think outside the box.

I think Gaff is the perfect free agent for us this year and Dylan Shiel in 2019

Allows us to concentrate key picks on other areas of concern or lack of depth
I think this is the way forward now, ie. Free agents only.
Keep building through the draft long term for sustained success and pick top end talent through FA.
Don’t fall for the trade top picks away mentality......

Nope rethink and try again.

You need to keep injecting 17-18yo through the draft and top up on UFA not RFA ...... If its a RFA ... you wanna make sure its BEST fit (ie match winner or at least the missing link).

Keeps the list ticking over from the base we have built. (20-23 yo age bracket)

Do this smartly and we should sell the secret to all and sundry for a price .... lol

Bennell is a not even a possibility worth exploring.

More a liability.

I thought that is what I said...keep drafting with our top picks and top up with FA only. Don’t trade picks away.

You are hoping we finish 18th?
No don't want to at all , its heart wrenching and it should be unthinkable but it's mighty tempting.
Boltan & Silvagni have put in place very soild foundations add Jake Lukosius to our team and he would give us a decade of glory.
He's just about as good a tall I seen in very long time, just like having Stephen kernahan playing all over again.

Im all for getting Gaff. Very underrated on here, compliments our list very well and is a great footballer.
No idea why people on her dont rate him
Agreed

Two-way midfielder in his prime? Yes please :)

Can't understand why people aren't pumped by this prospect - not every recruit is a Buddy or Dangerfield!

Fair enough. That's your opinion and you've clearly made your mind up.

It's not worth argunig the point anyway because it's so unlikely to happen. I just don't buy into SOS paying overs for a player they don't need, like Gaff or McGovern.
