GSW built their “super team” via the draft, and then by some “luck” with new TV deal increasing salary cap AND having Curry on a bargain deal, were able to afford KD. To me, that’s good team management. Built long-term via draft, developed them into superstars and managed cap space just as well.

Finally, my Lakers have woken up to this a couple of years ago and low and behold, hit jackpot in FA this year.

All for equalisation but at the same time, can’t punish the good teams for managing their teams as they should, while others mismanage and pay the price.

So adding an MVP to a 73 win team is your idea of the right way? It’s exactly what Richmond are doing with Lynch. They didn’t need Durant to win, they just needed him not on other certain teams to dilute the competition.

And Boogie? More good management I suppose? It’s a sham and so is Steve Kerr.

Your Lakers hit the jackpot because the best player in basketball wanted to be in LA. That’s good luck, not good management.

100% agree with this. It is absurd that a player who is not a free agent can reduce their trade value by nominating one club you should only get this option once you are a free agent.
At the moment the players have too much control
Players should always be in control of where they want to play and what club/s they want to play for. No way are the AFLPA going to hand over control to clubs and hand them the ability to trade players on the whim of the coaches or list managers, club CEO's or Presidents. Wont happen.

A great player McGovern.

But how will he fit into our team with De Koning, Curnow and McKay?
Not forgetting Kerr who has shown a bit too.
Easy.

De Koning has had his taste, but he's still only a 19yo giraffe-boy. He goes back to the VFL next year and plays increasingly more time in the ruck to work on that part of his game. During the season, if the opportunity presents to play some seniors (ie. Harry/Charlie/McGovern injured or suspended) he gets some more senior games under his belt.

Long term, we want him playing as #1 ruck, so as much of his development as possible needs to be working towards that objective.

And we have 6 weeks of Adelaide fans and their bullshit trade suggestions to put up with.

They are like no other. Will want pick 1 + a player.
Let them want it.
They wanted to give 13 and a hack player for Gibbs, Kane Cornes even stressed what a good deal that was, but we all know how that ended up.
Stay strong guys. The days of Rogers and Hughes getting their pants pulled down in trades are well and truly over.

Pretty hard going from 18th to a destination club with the rules as they are.

I have no doubt we could attract top players if we were at the pointy end of the ladder, last time that happened was 2000 though and the landscape is vastly different now.

A pick around 20 and a couple state league players will have us challenging though....

That’s not to even mention keeping all of our own talented kids. The top clubs will come knocking for them if we don’t improve very soon.

Players want success, hence this FA debacle.
We only won four games in the year before Judd joined us...

You're not listening

He has already said he plans on staying, has no intention of leaving, and the only way he does is if GWS want to offload him early.

So either GWS want to get rid of him, in which case he nominates a club and they deal fairly because they're the ones being helped - or he stays.
Which is why they'd give him options of clubs. You really think they'll let him walk to Richmond on $700k for their first rounder?
If there is any truth to it this sort of talk would already be happening behind the scenes and they would know what they'll pretty much get before they told him to look around
