Durant was a FREE agent - it was his choice to go to a 73 win team. Right or wrong, he’s now a 2x champ and finals mvp.. and also still getting paid. Boogie is coming off an injury that maybe 1-2 players EVER had comeback the same from. My take is that he’s bet on himself to get paid again, but at same time, why not get a ring and also perform with little to no pressure / expectation on a stacked team?

Right right.. bron only wanted LA. Guess that’s why Clippers got a shot at speaking with him....

The Clippers :D

I like LBJ to the Lakers btw, will be a very interesting watch.

The Warriors recruited Durant all season, ask Draymond. I’d have much more respect for them if they’d stayed the course with that 73 win team, the all-time most wins in a season. Think they were doing ok.

If we can land Setterfield, McGovern and Walsh I'd be pretty happy. Still leaves our 2019 midfield a bit shallow though.
Yep.

At least one more quality, experienced mid and I would be a lot more comfortable for next season. Especially given Setterfield probably won't set the world on fire for a bit coming off a recon.

I wouldn't say that's a ridiculous choice.
He wasn't considered enough of a leader to even be in Tigers leadership group 18 months ago.
Improving a couple of spots from the AFL compo v keeping him for another year and getting a real benifit from him.

I'm not letting him go such a small return if I'm GWS.
depends on what your TPP circumstance is - rumour is GWS have a big problem.

Surely you dont believe what players who are about to embark on a finals series say in media regarding their intentions going forward ?
TBH only the people very close to him would know if at all but to take his comments as gospel on the eve of the finals is a little naive .
What else is he going to say yeah im leaving ?
You'd expect him to hedge a bit more, not say "up to the club".

I know, that's what I'm saying. You seem to think they are going to accept unders because he has nominated a team. Without giving up pick 1 we don't have anything that would be a fair price for him that's why I said they would give him options of clubs a,b and c because they would know what they would pay for him otherwise they tell him he is staying
Why on earth would tell him they want to trade him, and then think that they can force his hand with a shortlist of clubs THEY want to trade with?

Again - they're not just going to accept unders, but if they're the ones trying to get rid of him for salary space, they can't bargain all that hard. Not saying we get him for a second rounder, but I don't think they can demand Pick 1 either. Future first is more than fair.

Doubt we’d pay the price it’d take to lure Gaff away from the Eagles. That’s more a North or St Kilda play I’d say.

For the right price though, oh yeah!!

Rumour going around, is that if Gaff leaves, WC will match any offer, forcing a trade, but will facilitate the move
Which would have us back to trading pick 1 somehow I guess. Don’t think I’d be up for that but I can be talked into pretty much anything....

Makes sense, they'd be looking at Pick 15 or so as compo. Good chance they can get something around 10 as a minimum.

Tell you what...our Priority Pick could be around there... :p

I'm sure they would match a bid from Melbourne or Hawthorn, but if Gaff decides to go to North I don't see how WC can afford to match a $1.2 million per season contract. It's a big risk for them if North then walk away.

In light of recent developments, and not wanting to pot anyone, can we implement some kind of structure to our Bluemours?

Rumour: Gaff to Carlton / McGovern to Carlton / We don't want Billings / Ross Lyon coach next year
Source: Friend of player / Contact at club / Relative of XXXX / My mate at work / SEN caller

Appreciate people sharing their mail, but it would be nice to know how concrete they claim it to be.
No first time posting in bluemour threads would be a good start .

Why on earth do you say look around when no one may want to pay up for him.

You have to work in reverse. Clubs will be talking to each other so you find out if anyone is going to pay before you even talk to Shiel. Than you have a frank discussion with his manager to see if he has any interest in those clubs. If not than story over and they keep him.
If he does than they would approach Shiel and most likely offering him a contract extension and if he doesn't want to sign on than tell him you have offers from clubs a,b and c but we won't trade you to anyone else.
That way the club doesn't back itself into a corner.

A future first is only a pick upgrade on what they will get anyway. It's nowhere near more than fair.
