Realistically Setterfield and Walsh won't add that much to our midfield next year...Dow's contribution this year the likely best case outcome.

And while he had a good year for a 1st year player, we'll still get beaten up by almost every other midfield again with more experienced, bigger bodies.
Setterfield and Walsh would be amazing inclusions. Both young, both cream of their draft years. Both with big big futures. Both players im extremely keen on more than any others.

If we do get 2 pp state league players, this will help our team immensely.

Yes our team is still young, but much better for the future.

Gaff would be a dream but wont happen!

If we included Walsh, setterfield, 2 best 22 state leauge players and maybe a Will Brodie, our rebuild is near complete.

I hope we still keep an eye on the future rather than just the now

Yarran was worthless as I recall.

Lucky the Tigers would take his contract.

Still feel bad for Yazz, had a real rough patch personally.

I feel sorry for Yaz in some respects.

He was very happy to take our money and put in half-arsed efforts for much of that last year after Tigers "tapped" his shoulder - not so happy about that.

I'm surprised we haven't been linked to Cam Ellis-Yolmen, the poor bloke didn't get a consistent run at the Crows this year despite averaging over 20 possessions a game. With both Crouch brothers, Sloane and Gibbs in the line-up next year, his prospects aren't likely to improve. We asked about him last year, I'd be shocked if we didn't ask again. His size, clearance ability and age profile is exactly what we seem to be looking for.

No thank you.

On radio station 5aa in Adelaide, Rowe and Bicks have stated MM to Hawks is a done deal. Don’t shoot the messenger, just saying
I think there will be quite a few on here that will be very happy with that outcome. I really rate McGovern, but I just think we need to be using our prime trading assets to bolster our midfield with experienced quality. Shiel would cost more than pick 12, but it would be a good start in negotiations and that is where I would like it used (if we do in fact get pick 12).

Hawks are always a destination club.

Bloody good at it.
There’s nothing masterful about it. In a system where players have all control, the Hawks just need to keep throwing their hat in the ring, human nature does the rest (quality players would much prefer going to a perceived contender than a cellar dweller). They will be able to stay up near the top indefinitely with the current system and they won’t need to be all that strategic to do so. Just pick off the players one by one.

Apparently they've used just 2 x top 20 draft picks in the last 10 years...thats quite the stat.

Off top of my head one would be Isaac Smith at pick 19 as well.

On the draft board a GWS poster saying he has heard it's Essendon getting Shiel.
Old news and still on the money as far as I've heard. Essendon are allegedly throwing the kitchen sink at him. Several hundred thousand more per year than the second highest bid.
