If you had one choice, Wallis or Libba?
Libba is a gun. At his best he's Elite. The question mark is over whether he'll get back to his best.

I think we're in a position where money is irrelevant, we have plenty of list positions, and a desperate need to improve our contested footy and clearance work. Unless there something we dont know about his current recreational habits or the extent of his knee injury Id be very disappointed if we dont at least sound him out.

We won't through, sometimes we're too conservative.

Not worried about any other club re Shiel like MS3 has stated. Not sure many can offer what GWS are after especially *.IF he is available I’m sure SOS will do his utmost to get him across the line.

Son of a gun from the Dogs has to be either Wallis or Libba. Hoping it would be Wallis, do like him as a player. Ess want everyone as we saw last off-season, not too concerned about them and their interest in Shiel. Wallis would come here knowing he has midfield minutes waiting for him.

The Port one though is too vague. Polec would be fantastic but too high of a price. Hartlett may be a good shout. Travis Boak though, this makes sense. Out of contract next season, from Vic and ties in with the "targeting of a captain" rumour we've recently had. Could be anyone though.
Agreed.

However just hypothetically, how would people feel about this:

Trade 1: Pick 1 for McGovern and Adelaide's first (pick 8)
Trade 2: Pick 8 for Polec

Net Result: Pick 1 for McGovern and Polec.

I think some will shout this down but i would be open to it and is extremely realistic...i see Adelaide and Port both agreeing.
As we know pick 1 is no sure thing to be an AFL star and we already have plenty of A grade talent kids imo...they just need help to develop into stars.

McGovern and Polec will help us immediately and are in the desired 22-27 age bracket. It's good list management to spread our age profile and not have too many 18-21 year olds. Polec in particular has been outstanding this year and will help our ball movement.
Add them to Shiel for our 2019 1st and our team is completely transformed.

Keep in mind we can still nab some gun kids with our PP and second rounders, so we're not trading out of the draft.

Actually i think this would be an amazing outcome for us.

The silly season is nearly upon us! It's kind of sad that I have been looking forward to trade and draft period than actual games. Let's hope in 2-3 years we talk 90% about our on field and upcoming finals, 8% about off season (during the season I mean) and 2% irrelevant non football related matters.

I really miss seeing us be competitive. Whilst I understand that McGovern might not fit into the type of player who fits our needs for right now, you cannot say no to a ready made player asking to come to us. The key will be the price. I would give up a mid first round pp if we get one and a pick in the 20s for McGovern and a late 20s/early 30s in return. We need more fire power in our forward half and he can add another avenue to goal. It will also allow Charlie to work up and down the wings as the lead up link player which he does well and McKay to stay a bit deeper with McGovern floating in between. I would also take Fasolo as he adds some skill and class to the forward half. He demands a close checking defender because he is a natural footballer with goal kicking nouce. If our forward line looked like this next year we will be in better shape:

Fisher Charlie Murphy.
McGovern McKay Fasolo

Pickett and wright also potentially in the 22. That is a pretty good forward line. Fisher can rotate through the midfield but provide forward pressure. Murphy is quite smart in the forward half and gets in good positions. Charlie and McKay are self evident. McGovern is a tough match-up who can clunk a mark and work up the ground. Fasolo is a danger target who can kick goals.

Jack needs to have the mother of all preseasons over the next 2 years if he is going to make it. I agree that if he is to make it, he needs to be a mid/fwd.
Then he needs to lose the ragetty-anne runing style and gain a yard in pace.
Can't see it happening myself.
Every time he runs he looks like two bodies tied together rolling down a mountain in slpw motion.

Hell no, Polec is worth a 2nd round to us at best, I like trading 1 but the result has to be we retain Walsh, 1 for 3 & a first rounder that pays for MM.

Do not want Polec, he’s soft as, imo he’s been weighed, measured & been found wanting, we don’t need proven soft, conditional players, leave him to Norf
He used to be but i don't think he is anymore...i've watched him this year and he's been outstanding. And has on several occasions been in Port's best in a loss so he's not a downhill skier.

A bit like Gibbs who was criticised early in his career for being soft but then became a contested gun, Polec has grown up and is a solid player now.

A lazy 4+ goals coming up tomorrow night in a likely BOG performance by MM. Just wait for it...
like last time..and then we'll pay the moon for him

tbh i am hoping something happens that shows he is not worth a first rounder. either 3 disposals or an injury (as bad as it makes me feel hoping for that)
worth a second rounder at most

Why are some people so quick to bundle up second round picks and ship them off from proven good-not-great players from other teams. The second round is a great opportunity to pick up A-grade talent. Why ship the doggies pick back to the kennel for Wallis when we could have a crack at a Merrett, Crouch or even another Fisher.

Everyone seems to praise SOS's drafting yet can't get rid of quality ammuntion for him to use come draft day. I personally back him in to find at least one very good player between a pp, the dogs pick and the crows pick.

Do you the story about bloke who was an architect, painter, sculpter, writer & a goat?
Goat was only once, but that’s what everyone remembers :D & for Polec it was more than once :)

I agree but we’re in an unfortunate position in 2019 where we can no longer wait around for draft picks to develop and finish bottom 2 again. Puts the club and Bolts under just far too much pressure.

2018 1 pick is very valuable we all know that the top 3 actually are certainly elite and would all be 1st pick in most drafts.
If Silvagni trades with Adelaide, IMHO its McGovern and picks 8 & 12 nothing less. Otherwise we draft in a potential champion.

Why would anyone suggest we give up a second round pick for Wallis who is a free agent?
