McGovern isnt as good as Curnow now and has 2 possessions a game on the McKáy and TDK'(small sample size)despite being 4 years older and playing in a better side. Pretty happy to back Harry in to have the better career. Too early to say on TDK

Look I agree - Charlie and McKay not withstanding.

But to suggest we don’t need McGovern because we have TDK, Kerr, JSOS and BSOS(!!), and most will be better?! Based on what?

History says Pick 1 is not usually traded...I wouldn’t involve it in any deal for McGovern. Potentially would deal a mid-late 1st round priority pick if going on face value. But i think SOS knows that you don’t sell Pick 1 for what’s fair, you have to be offered something special & way overs to even consider dealing it...hopefully that is what’s happening.

Only thing I do know for sure it's going to be a very interesting trade/draft period for us.

Awesome. It really sounds like there will be some serious action this year.

This means of the 10-day trade period, we could see only 8 boring-as-bat-excrement days instead of 9......;)

McGovern is a nice to have but we urgently need at least 4 mids. Poor list management if we are going after him.

I am still reeling over the '11 trade period.... Wtf were we thinking?

The '11 trade period sure was interesting!

In the way that the Chinese saying 'May you live in interesting times' is actually a curse....

McGovern has agreed to terms with us, so now its about getting the right deal for the crows. What that looks like right now is up in the air as we will be super active come trade period.

Great news MS3, fantastic footballer . I hope this is Agresta's first scalp and one of many to come.
Love your tit bits keep it comming.

Thanks for the update, just hope it is not true, as I don’t know why we are after another tall, when we need more midfielders.
This would only make sense if it was the only thing we did all trade period...
I wasn't happy when we brought Dale Thomas in .. only because mick malthouse wanted him ...his love child was on serious coin .. 750,000 a year ...a bad move by our football club and now McGovern ....really ...honestly
LEL how are they even closely related? Is McGovern Bolton's love child?

I wouldn't say its poor list management to go for a guy who (by all reports) clearly wants to come here and fits a few of our recruitment boxes (right age, obvious talent, comes from a more successful team) but to overpay or use Pick 1 in THAT deal could be seen as foolhardy.

My two cents are that if we trade 1, we'd want 2 or 3 coming our way. Has the potential to go very wrong.

McGovern is a natural footballer good vision, hunts and wins the footy, has elite distribution , at 190 cm if his head and heart are in the right space he'll be a very good asset in several positions.

Would bringing in Mcgovern, Walsh, 2 other top 30 mids in this draft, Dahlhous, shane Nelson a couple of Tom Wilson/Jesse Palmer/mason Blakey/sam fisher types and Fasolo really be poor list management?

Followed by Shiel as a FA and Kelly or Cerra next year?

Ill honestly be shocked if you say yes

Jake Lever trade would beg to differ. There's always quality mids in the market place & its quick to "breed" your own, KP not so much, longer to develop & rarer commodity, as such, worth more.

What would Kelly cost, what did Treloar cost? Works both ways but unfortunately it's more a midfielders game these days. Whichever way you can't beat top end talent and you need to pay for it

Wouldn't touch Brad Crouch at all
guy can not get out on the park
and when he has there's nothing eye catching.

Agree with the first two, disagree with the last.

Very good player, but no luck with body.

McGovern is going to cost us a first round pick, he is contracted for 2 or 3 more years. He has played less games then Charlie Curnow and he is 2 years older. He has had 2 injury interrupted years. Crows aren’t going to trade their only young forward for a second round pick. When they asked for two first for Jake Lever who was out of contract.
My point was we are going to have to pay overs for a player I don’t think will improve our list greatly, when our main priority should be midfielders.
