I don't want to speak for everyone, but I feel the biggest problem is not just that your posts seem wildly speculative, but that you are now talking about potential Oct/Nov deals in Feb, before the season has even started. It's one thing to speculate on what players we might look at bringing in or what draft picks we might trade in or out, but effectively shipping off a bloke that's done nothing wrong, is young and is pushing to be a permanent part of the team (and yes people seem to like him too), is rubbing people up the wrong way.
A conversation like that might be better placed halfway through or towards the end of the season, when the player and the club have a bit of exposed form and our needs are more apparent. Until then, it seems to be talking for the sake of talking (no offense intended - I know that describes most posts on BF, especially off season).
Taking DVB's input out of all of this but there are many deals being discussed before a ball has been bounced this year.
A coach has his objectives and the 'types' he needs in order to form a winning team.......................by winning his way.

You'll already notice several of Boltons likes and dislikes in regards to the playing list.
There may be some unexpected players that jump out of the box this year, but there is a clear vision as to which way he'll be going about things and he'll certainly have his wish list with SOS already.

I can't see why we can't speculate on what might happen in 7/8 months time at the trade period, maybe I am a trade enthusiast, so what ? I am actually not criticising Nick Graham at all and I am sure already SOS and the coaching are already discussing their trade/drafting strategy for October.

I think there is nothing wrong with having a healthy/robust discussion about possible trades at the season at this point in time, but that's just my 2c.

The vast majority of posts, including this one, are talking for the sake of it.
It's crazy that people can work themselves into a froth over the possibility of bringing in JOM, Wines, Prestia etc but crack the sads over the prospect of trading out one of "our boys".
It's either too soon for both discussions or neither..

I have no doubt, but with exposed form on the track, things can change quite quickly.
Graham is only an example, as he's the player currently being discussed, but I'd rather see how he fits in with Bolton's game plan and the renewed sense of energy around the club. If anything, you'd think that Bolton might want a smaller, slower, smarter footballer in the shape of a Mitchell, if he's following a similar game plan.
Personally I'm more than happy to speculate and join in on these types of conversations halfway through or at the end of a season. Before-hand, not so much.

Fair points, but there is always going to be more emotion attached (rightly or wrongly) when discussing moving a player on that you've spent the last year or more cheering on (especially when the player has done nothing wrong and seems to be improving), as opposed to bringing in a gun from another club.
You will still get guys that don't like talking about bringing those players in, but rarely with the same emotion as getting rid of someone that's potentially best 22 for no other reason than a gut feel.

Couple of things -

So i got a few predictions wrong (based on twitter info etc) So what ? Hardly a sin, plus i did actually post that Nathan Bassett was going to Port as an assistant months before it happened (to that smart ass troll quoting 19th century posts from me)

Secondly, People have been twisting/distorting my opinions on Nick Graham, i might have clumsily worded it, but i never bagged the bloke or suggested trading him, i simply ventured an opinion based on intuition that SOS and the club may look to trade him if they want another good draft pick(s) in next year's draft, or as a means as part of a deal to get someone like Tomlinson from GWS.

Unless we get an outrageous offer, I don't think we'll be trading our first or second round picks this year, in a strong, deep draft from all accounts, and going by SOS's record, he will want to acquire more draft picks, and i think Graham, as an yet to be established best 22 player with some currency, could possibly be used as a trade. I don't see the need for some to carry on like I've just shot Bambi, I was speculating on what MIGHT happen, not what I WANT to happen RE Graham.

Maybe I've been following US Sports too long, but for a rebuilding club like us, we got to consider our players as Shares/Assets in a stock market, and the buy low/sell high approach into trading, say Graham (or someone else drafted somewhat late in the draft) for a second round pick, would be tempting for SOS, I would imagine.

I recently saw Draft Day, and I'm now getting delusions of being Kevin Costner :D (it was a movie about the NFL Draft and some of the ballsy and controversial moves Costner as Cleveland Browns GM made)

Finally, and i said this months ago, people have to start being less attached/emotionally invested in players, can't help but feel that player/club loyalty (and vice versa) is going the way of the dodo, and as the Troy Menzel trade proved, just about anyone, including fan favourites, can and will be traded if SOS and the club deem it necessary.

And haven't some suggested we should have traded Mitch Robinson back in 2012, when he did have some (relative) currency ?

This is the way modern footy works (esp after the introduction of free agency) and i don't like it, but I passionately believe the club needs to continue to be proactive and keep making list management decisions that will help us in the long term, for when our next premiership window opens.
This really grinds my gears..

Why do people post rumors from randoms on twitter? And if you are going to, make sure you provide the source as well, so people know to take it with a grain of salt. It diminishes the blumeour pages credibility. As many of us do actually have legitimate sources (gday Charter) of information from within the club/AFL.

Sure. If I were you though, I'd take more care to word posts so they don't read as if you are describing forgone conclusions. That's why people jump on your posts at times.

Declaration =\= Opinion.
Opinion =\= Fact.

Some things can be speculated on wildly and some can be done so with a little sound information......and this has nothing to do with Graham now.

Citing Twitter won't win you any points though. The club would though know for some that are unlikely to be on the list next year.........yes, already.

Sometimes Twitter does get things/info right, to be fair, but much like many of the rumours posted on this thread, you got to take them with a grain of salt, I for one don't believe that Ratten returning as an assistant for a second, not going to have a go at the poster for reporting it though.

I would be interested to see how many rumours posted throughout this thread last year (aside from the obvious Mick is getting sacked ones) actually came true ?

Are posts here deleted by content or author ?
I would guess that around half of my posts have been deleted over the years.

But I guess that's to be expected when I spend most of my time on bigfooty posting pictures of questionable wrestling positions on the Wrestling board.

Twitter is no different to BF or journos. Rumours abound and some come off, some don't. No one is 'better' than the others, especially when journos are paid to develop connections and still can't get it right.

Marc Shmurf 3 and reg_lower91 are pretty much the only two boarders I would trust with providing consistently true/"eventuated differently but true at the time" rumors. More trustworthy than the majority of sports journos in the industry.

I have an excuse watching BF so much - I sit on my arse staring at computer screens all day and ye;ling buy/sell orders according to a whim or a toss of the dice or whatever... that caper got boring a decade ago...so for amusement and education, all it takes is a click on the mouse to see if there is any action going on on BF - how good is that eh eh EH?!!!

I would appreciate someone explaining to this old troglodyte what this twitter thing is...*

*Only joking - no interest in 'social media' what so ever - I don't even facebook

Isn't that what this thread is all about ................. RUMOURS!
