Good of GWS to drive down the price of Tomlinson for us.
With every game of NEAFL he plays, the closer to us he gets - I firmly believe that. If the talk that he was dead keen to come to us (had our kit ready to put on and everything) then each omission from the senior side is another reason to leave again. With the entire trade period (not just the last day) to get him this time, I like our chances.

So a player who cannot crack it for a senior game at another club and his form is sliding faster further than a kid on a slippery-dip yet he is a must-have at our club ??

Go figure !!!

Perhaps he is very dissapointed at missing out, at the last minute I might add, on being traded to us and is struggling to get the most out of himself..

Yeah because our forward line is exploding with a grade talls like Cameron and Patton....

JP Kennedy couldn't crack a game at Hawthorn, must be a bloody dud.

I like him as well, just at the right price.

A lot of players have had poor years with their club when they KNOW they're moving club at the end of the year so their heart isn't in it.

See Hendo and Betts for us.
Gazza and Cloke had poor years when weighing up whether to stay or go etc

Might just be Tomlinson has already made up his mind.
And guys like Betts and Gazza have shown they can bounce back to form the very next year at their new team.

Plowman couldn't make the regular starting team because of injury, not ability. Sumner also had a run of injuries which prevented him from being available for senior selection.

Fair comment.

However, we got to see what Henderson & Betts could produce and regularly and Ablett is a Brownlow medallist, Tomlinson has hardly fired a shot.

I really don't understand the fascination on this board for Tomlinson, an under-sized forward who is fourth or fifth on the pecking order at GWS.

Yes, we certainly need another KP forward or two but I just don't see Tomlinson as the answer.

All I'm reading is the same hyperbole about Tomlinson as we saw when Jones came to the club and look how that turned out.

There's some pretty decent tall forwards at GWS who are also young, so plenty of competition for spots after Cameron. Id be happy with any of Lobb, Patton, McCarthy, Steward or Tomlinson.

If we can get Tomlinson for our second pick, that's a ready to go key forward to form our future forward line with Curnow and big Harry. I say pull the trigger.

I agree, every game he plays in the neafl the cheaper we will get him.

Absolute myth. His laconic style and poor work ethic wouldn't have been tolerated at those clubs and he would have been a bust.

Cripps got drafted to a bottom team and has thrived mainly on the back of his own doing, why should we make an excuse for Gibbs?

Sheik is right. Tomlinson is a mediocre player who's always struggled to get a game at AFL due to poor performance.

He may be a good get for the right price but let's not kid ourselves that he's the saviour.

Look who he's competing against for spots, Cameron and Patton take the first two spots, then if you want to squeeze another tall forward in you've got Lobb, Stewart, McCarthy as well. They may not be world beaters yet but are all young promising highly rated forwards as well.

Pick 20ish (our second) for a Carlton man in Tomlinson is just a no brainer.

Why do you rate those players? Cameron is a potential star. So is McCarthy.

The rest have shown very little at AFL level.

Not sure what it is about GWS but there seems to be this mass delusion that every player on their list is a budding superstar just waiting for an opportunity to shine.
