Tounge in cheek comment but thanks for the long winded reply.
Was that tongue in cheek too? Half of the reply was directed towards the whole board.

Hard to tell given how many times posters snipe at us.

He'd probably point out that champion small forwards have never won a team a premiership.
And don't think Eddie would have performed quite the same if he stayed. Much better forward line (and midfield) surrounding him over there helps overall output. Don't get me wrong, they're a very good football team, Adelaide.

Interesting re: Waite's comments re: Roos injury prevention and fitness regime. They do go alright over there with the elder statesmen.

I quite enjoyed Mick potting cry baby Aish on SEN a couple of nights ago, he wasn't wrong either (basically saying Aish gave Brisbane nothing and should have stayed there longer)

The media really is his forte these days ...

By the looks of it he gave the Lions his best, season #1. Funny if he never progressed due to his contract handling. EAD Liam Pickering too.

On Mick, you reckon when he watches Eddie dominate he thinks "gee I got that one wrong" or,do you think he is too stubborn to admit it even to himself?
What he would probably think is that Eddie is still going missing when the heat is on in a game. While Puopolo & Rioli were in the thick of it in the last quarter, Eddie was barely sighted.

Can't see why the pining over Eddie anyway. How many more games would have we won had have he stayed?
The guy is almost 30 now and if some rumours are true (which they're likely not) then he may be even older.

Nice guy to have around but not much good to us.
Only thing worth debating is our failure to work things out whereby we could have netted something for him......although that would have been difficult.

Same goes for Waite. Of no value to us given where we are.
Main thing is for the young guys to stand tough and tight and together become part of something coming through.

Re Eddie, the angst is because he was such a shining light in such a dark(can't use bleak, that's subject to copyright for the ferals) period for the club.

With Waite, I think we are just bitter because of all the big contracts and faith we showed in him for so many years only for him to repay the debt........at another club.

But you are correct, we should have got at least some value coming back and we definitely need to move on.

Actually Waite was brought up in the disparity in club fitness programs, with North seemingly all over the injury prevention to our old faithfuls running the physical conditioning dept. at CFC.

Jarrad is seeing the benefits of actually doing the program set for him

Both Waite & Eddie were offered better deals at other clubs. We can talk about loyalty etc, but it goes two ways - clubs will get rid of players when no longer needed, likewise nothing wrong with players choosing other clubs for brighter futures, money $$$ etc.

Trick is for Carlton to make itself a club players want to play for.

True dat, Knobba. Think we've made it a team for opportunities (Phillips, Lamb, Sumner, Plowman) while the club embraces to be better off field & the betterment for players to want to be a part of.
I dare say we'll need to be seen as a destination club as FA would likely be within the recruitment process to boost our playing stocks when back on the rise.

The club is still very interested in getting Tomlinson and he still has a very big desire to come home (even greater than last year). Good thing for us is the price we will have to pay this year will be far less than what we had on the table 6 months ago. (Similar scenario for the GWS with Johnson in what they originally offered to what they had to give up to get him in the end).

A football team
Good result. He appears to be badly out-of-favour so as long as he is keen to come to us, I see it being low risk and potentially high reward. Any opportunity to recruit an athletic, versatile, physically developed yet young tall for a reasonable (if not bargain basement) price is a huge win.

MS3....do you mean Stevie J-like devaluing in

Style - made an offer at last minute, didn't go through but then much cheaper the next year

OR

Substance - offer went from like pick 6 one year to like a 5th round pick the next year (which is just a junk pick to make sure a player gets to the club of their choice).

??????

If it's the latter, then may you permit me a massive YYYAAAAAASSSSSS! (MEB_ TM)
