Surefire way to ingratiate yourself with the people in charge of renewing your contract...Insult them!
Maybe he wants out - but doesn't want to go back on his stance of seeing out the contract? Make enough noise (especially if it's critical of the head honchos) and maybe they'll spit the dummy and move him on early?

Malthou$e is the master of spin - as Bomber Thompson said las t night

"ex Richmond players don't retire or resign hey get sacked"

and when asked about coaching Carlton his reponse was

"probably not"

and his reason (when pressed) was

"I've got the time and energy to rebuild it takes years- but don't think Carlton are a Club with that sort of patience."

Rumour on TC that there are rumblings at the club this afternoon. Mick gone?
Only a rumour but this is what this thread is called.
Unlikely.

I mean not unlikely there are rumblings but unlikely there would be movement some 30 hours before a match.

Recently had dinner with an old school mate who was on an AFL list and one of the Carlton players that has been on more than 1 AFL list. Obviously i didn't press (even though i wanted to), but he said that while he tried not to read too much into things (too busy keeping his spot every weekend) Carlton was the first Club he has been at where the players quite literally all go their separate ways after training/games/events etc. He said that while they didn't not get along, they arent even remotely as close knit as any other club he has been at. And thats including the guys that have been together 5+ years.

Nothing there you probably can't see if you attend training etc, or watch games. But interesting nonetheless.
