Not me. Although I do miss jeppy, Liam Sumner already looks the goods and he isnt even 100% fit yet.

I don't miss Jeffy running into an open goal and missing
What a load of rubbish. We are in dire need of goal scorers and Sumner has had 3 good games. Garlett would be more than handy right now.

We lose 2016 2nd, 2x3rd round picks 2017 1st and 3rd rnd picks.

We gain 2016 1st rnd pick Tomlinson, Marchbank, Ahern, Batter/Steele
I honestly wouldn't be happy going into trade month at the end of next season with no first or third round picks and just a second. If that is in fact what you are proposing?

Let's not re-write the Eddie/Jeffy/Yaz history at Carlton. There were plenty of games when they just didn't show.
Agreed. There's been plenty of games that they (Eddie and Jeff) haven't shown at their new clubs either as good as they have been for them.

The only mistake we made was in getting rid of them so cheaply.

I sincerely doubt that either - had they been at the club when SOS took over - would have featured in his long term plans in building a premiership team.

Sumner isn't anywhere near Garlett atm, you guys are crazy. Garlett pips him in just about every category at the same age.
Garlett peaked early. It's clear that Sumner has mountains of potential yet to fulfill. As good as he's been for Melbourne's forward line Garlett hasn't sniffed the level of play he delivered in 2011 since.

Garlett is the perfect 2nd small forward. Will cut you to bits if your small defenders aren't up to it.
Although a "tall" small defender eg. Mackie, Birchall will keep him quiet.

Let's not forget the multiple contest shirks he made in 2014......frightening

Would take Sumner over Garlett if I had the choice right now. Sumner is a potential jet, better fit for our needs, more upside and younger.
We got pick #62 for Garlett, whereas Sumner was steak knifes in the GWS4 for pick #28 (effectively had Zero trade cost).
Effectively we win that trade - so be happy:D

That's the kicker isn't it. We get something for our trouble like the Menzel trade and things seem a little easier to swallow. Helps he has barely kicked a ball in anger there yet.

And Sumner hasn't sniffed the level Garlett achieved in 2011 (when Garlett was younger than Sumner is now)

I like Sumner, but people are being unfair on Garlett. 17 clubs would pick Garlett over Sumner.

Are you looking at the INs?

Supporters in general get too fixated on draft picks...those 4 guys are young and talented.
I did see the ins.
I also get the feeling we will finish lower next year than this one. I expect a pick 1-4 next year which could actually be traded for 2 picks in the first round.
I doubt sos will let go of a first round pick go for a year away.

I'm not suggesting that you're wrong but it's apples to oranges as far as I'm concerned. Sumner should continue to become a much better player than he (Sumner) is now whereas I don't believe Garlett will ever play to the level that he did five years ago.

The question is can Sumner reach that level? There's the potential for him to get to a very high level. I don't believe he'll ever have the scoreboard impact that Garlett continues to have whereas I do believe Sumner will become a much more rounded footballer than Garlett ever has been.

Once you've traded a future first round pick, you're not allowed to trade any other future picks out, so that torpedoes No1Suspect's plan.

I'm unsure if you can square the ledger by getting in another future first or third rounder though.

I think most on here agree that if CFC get a great deal from GWS we should take it.
Challenge is we need high end talent (AFL Stars) if we are to win #17 and GWS will give us AFL quality depth only.

In 2017 we need to upgrade several positions to meet the 66 game rebuild:

FB: Touhy, Weitering, Plowman
HB: Byrne, Rowe, Docherty
R: Kreuzer, Gibbs, Cripps
C: Kerridge, Murphy, Simpson (Cuningham)
HF: Thomas (SOSOS), Casboult (Harry McKay), Sumner
FF: Lamb, KJ, C. Curnow

Int: White, Everitt, Wright, E. Curnow

It is not a bad best 22 - just lacks the Star power to make October

Bolding key players? If so I'd bold Byrne and C. Curnow too. Potentially Harry too but that's a big IF right now.

We're essentially a reliable kicking and marking KPF and gun midfield rotations away from contending if Kreuzer's body holds up.

We're going to have the best backline in the comp in 2020.

Not sure how you can see us finishing lower next year than this year, if we were to get Tomlinson, Marchbank, Ahern and Steele.
Plus best mid with our first pick this year.

Also you seem fascinated with the prospect of having 2 first round picks in 2017...even though the aforementioned 4 players were all high picks anyway and clearly talented.

With the unique amount of talent GWS have on their list, the bolded part of your comment is wrong.

GWS have plenty of talent not in their best 22 who could make it in the AFL.
