Poster who originally posted the rumour got the first GWS4 trade before it happened too.
He did say though - that no deal has been done yet as all the players have different agents and stuff can happen between now and the end of the year etc etc..

Ok i am a big fan of the proposed GWS 4 trade but i dont see how it will get done for only our 1st and our 2nd round pick. Lets say 8 and 26. Why would GWS except this off us when they could get more elsewhere? I would be willing to offer our third as well or even next years second to get it done. Does anyone else think it is huge unders?

It's not like SOS to ignore the first round of any draft. If he chooses to do so this year, I have faith that it will be for a very good reason.

Let's not forget that our trade currency may have taken a hit last year, but our team's performance this year has significantly increased the value of our players across the park. A simple and emotion free example of this is Gorringe: we picked him up for free, but if he continues on his current development pathway then he may be worth a second-third-fourth rounder to someone. That pick then gets packaged together with another pick or two and all of a sudden we've manufactured a first round pick via a trade.

We are in this for the long haul. The elite learning environment we keep hearing about didn't come into being solely to improve game day performance. Nor does "SOS's Spreadsheet" exist simply to propel us up the ladder. And "Brave Carlton" are not making decisions with the limited vision of "We want to play finals" in mind. The club are looking to become a dynastic powerhouse again through the creation of a talent factory the likes of which the AFL has never seen.

Strap yourselves in Baggers! :thumbsu:
In SOS we trust. :)

Not convinced about that. Kerridge will never be a top 4 mid in a premiership side, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't get a game. Really good sides have all kinds of guys playing very specific roles and he would retain some value. Still young and improving too.

Think every team could do with a hard at it HF who can find the goals and rotate through the mids
I strongly agree. Could be a great HF runs all day and is hard as nails. Definite keeper.

Bet Bailey Rice would like to change his mind........
We don't need him. He can stay at that club and never have success just like Hamill. He should of choose us. His dad is a premiership player with us and we took him off the scrapheap and stuck by him through 2 knee reconstructions. That alone should of persuaded him.

The fact is that we already have 4 of 5 ex GWS players and this would be a huge advantage for players deciding which club to choose. Plus the fact the team is united and the direction the club is heading.

Hey guys any truth in the rumor that the Blues brains trust are gonna start organizing club functions with either elite womens netball or basketball sides hoping that some some of our young blokes can start breeding some future Superblues players :D
I'm available for breeding with Daisy Pearce in case she's reading.

As others have said, Bailey not being at the Blues is likely more to do with us.

Comments like yours Rog remind me of the ****heads who booed Tom Bell on Sunday.

Let's face it, he'd be a long way back in the half-back flanker stakes if he was with us. Didn't see much in the way of highlights of him either.

You're dead right - it would be a steal for us which makes the big question why would they do it?

I reckon there's several reasons in favour:
1. We've dealt with GWS in the same way just recently and all parties are happy (it seems anyway).
2. GWS need the list space for their academy players.
3. They need the salary cap space.
4. They don't necessarily need top 10 picks to achieve their drafting requurements and trading several players for what they need kills several birds with one stone.
5. Dealing with one club for all four is easier than a dozen clubs (all up) vying for individuals.

As far as the players are concerned:
1. Some of the four players are fringe at GWS and Carlton provide opportunity.
2. If our club continues on our current trajectory, the players aren't taking a HUGE backward step towards premiership which no doubt drives them to at least some degree.
3. Melbourne city is an attraction for some.
4. Probably most importantly, it seems Bolton and Carlton are attractive. Guys likely want to play for him and with us, though of course we have a long way to go in order to prove any initial feelings of us being 'a place to be' correct.
5. Everyone looks better in navy blue.

Obviously some of those reasons are minor but some are very important depending on the player in question. So basically, if GWS are happy and the players are satisfied - why not?
