Carlton are in negotiations with Billy Longer from St Kilda with Tom Hickey being the number 1 ruck his looking for more opportunity. Reports coming through is that him and Richardson don't see eye to eye on things. Me personally I'm not sure why we need another ruckman but this is what I'm being told.

Very strange rumour, don't rate Longer that high and don't understand the need to recruit him.

Unless there is a move abound to trade Kreuzer which is not out of the question I guess.

If we're going to cut players, we're better off trading them for a packet of twisties, and then bundling those packets of twisties together for a single diamond.

Even a third rounder is valuable in the current system. Three third rounders (40, 46, 49) = a pick around 17 odd (late 1st rounder). We already have two (40 and 49), and this draft bats deep. Its a perfect year to offload what we can, and then combine those picks for upgraded earlier ones.

We need to do it now, because the AFL have already indicated that they intend on tweaking the system. Its probably the last year it'll be allowed.

Bundling picks is good, but the downside is, which im sure you would have looked at is.

If we trade player A for pick 38

and then trade 38, 40 and 48 for pick 17 we bring in 1 player instead of 3 (better quality of course) meaning the process in which you clear out unwanted players is slower.

We cant have 10 de listings if we package all our picks otherwise we will be bringing in players who will be on the scrap heap in a year.

Yeah that's another possibility and a late 1st rounder is about right value for Kreuz, however we'd need to develop another Ruckman, I'd look at Darcy Cameron in this draft pool if no other ready made is available.

Korcheck and McKay will not be ready. Rowe not that great and to me Gorringe seems more of an all-round type like Blicavs.

No but a mature and a rookie ruck could be looked at. Not sure who but we'd certainly need assistance for Phillips to shoulder the #1 mantle (has his own injury concerns).
