Ok the spoon has me at seething point, I can still look past supporters going "Kreuze should walk so we get pick 2."

But if this club after all its incompetence AND inability to develop a list chooses to push Matthew Kreuzer (Make no mistake, he won't walk willingly) on the idea we get a draft pick which again WE HAVE NO TRACK RECORD OF DEVELOPING!!! Especially after he is one of the only heart and soul committed to us.....I am probably done.
Unless you know for a fact what Kreuzer is being offered by other clubs, don't get angry at him potentially not being there next year. If some of the offers that have been thrown about are anywhere near the ball park, it would be bad list management for us to match it. We just don't know.

Understand your point, I was talking more in the realm of Kreuzer wanting to stay (which by all accounts bar Robbo is true) and the club FORCED him into free agency and thus out the club.

The GWS offer is not true....well 2 years ago it was, keep in mind they signed all bar Treloar this year so it is impossible to fond another 1 mil a year for Kreuze.

There is no way AFL will let us have pick 1 and 2. No way. Kreuz could leave for 2mil a season for 15 years and we still wouldnt get it.

if it was the Bears they would get it, but they figure that we are still a big club, get 30-40k crowds when we are down, even if our rebuild is mega slow eventually we will get back up. On the other hand they want to bounce the Bears back up quick as possible. The face that they have won 3 flags in the last 15 years and we have been shithouse makes no difference.

This is it... the club would let Kreuzer walk for a silly amount and then be sitting there planning for pick #2... and the AFL says no, he is way to injury prone, you can have a band 2 compo pick. Now go away silly people, why would we let you benefit from a corrupt system.

The more everyone talks about it like it's an absolute certainty the less everyone will complain if it actually happens. The media were saying all along that Leuenberger will get Lions pick 2. let them run with Kreuzer for pick 2.

Too much negativity. :p

Talk about power , SOS has real power now. His eyes probably lid up. Maybe dogs and blues did a deal they get kreuzer on big money and they hand us weitering and shache on a silver platter lol

Well... would be humorous if we took Schache in the draft then took Aish in the PSD

Leuy will get them a 1.1 band comp now, thats a pick befour the start of the first round. Then we get the next pick, "pick 1". He will also be getting paid less than Kreuz, who is only worth band 3 compo

This is the reason the AFL has so much to league about running a professional business......where else can rules be made up on the fly & rules that are currently in place but bent & broken to suit the AFL's agenda.

We should have gotten a band 3 compo pick for Waite last year... but no... the AFL ****** us over and said that we didnt deserve one because of Waite's age.

Wouldn't dare...
Background information - I am in full agreement (with those that think) that Garry Lyon is a flog

Was listening to the game today and GL said something that surprisingly was constructive about Carlton and that I think actually is a good idea (pending various pissings-off) - Menzel and Clem basically shadowing Ed Curnow around all of next season. In GL's words - when Ed runs, they run. Doesn't sound like much, but I think Ed and Crippa should run some kind of bootcamp for a few of the players who only bust a portion of their gut.

I remember the club used to give a tape of Judd's running patterns to players during training. I think it was like "Sprint, stop, jog, sprint" etc. based on Judd's actual in-game running.

I'd hate to try and match it.

I still think we are a fair chance to get pick 2 if he leaves. Obviously the AFL want Brisbane to be up and running, but their list is quite a bit better than ours and I think the AFL know this.

They're also getting one gun and another top 20, 200cm Forward/defender through their Academy. Their talent isn't the problem. Their problem is retaining it long enough for it to develop and the way the Captain and Coach run the show.

I heard that too. 99% of the list should be made to follow and keep up with Ed over pre season

So thankful for finishing last. The ability to baulk at trade deals and say "we will take them for nothing in the PSD" means to me that we will be able to create deals for players better than what we should, and actually get one player for free via the PSD which I expect will be Carlisle or Aish. Getting that one player for free who goes straight into our best 22 is badly needed to give us a boost up the ladder. Throw in Weitering which who help/take over from Jamison in a few years as he passes the 30 year mark and that helps solidify our backline for the next few years along with Jaksch. White can be released forward and getting Carlisle would mean itll be Carlisle, White and Casboult. Thats a pretty good start to a rebuild in terms of our spine.

If we lose Kreuzer on top of our other recent departures AFL will give us pick 1 & 2 I expect.

MK is a #1 is relatively young will get big $ offers and is a major Star player at CFC (one of few). The AFL have given us nothing for losing other FA's, our fan base is in decline (one of few clubs to decline this year) and the AFL know that 15 years of crap performances mean CFC has lost a generation of supporters that will affect crowds in the future. AFL need CFC to be a big club or a large amount of older AFL fans lose interest in the game which has badly hurt this years crowds (as they do not take the kids).

I still think we should ask for an end of first round priority pick as we are going to need to draft a lot of really good kids to get back.

I'm not that fussed about winning the spoon, was more anti tanking. Now that we possess it, through fair and square ineptitude :) it will provide a nice launching pad to go alongside the new coach and list manager. New era-I feel positive , though obviously a lot of work to be done by the club. Happy that we've started on a workable route to success.
