Nathan Freeman has requested a trade from the Pies to St Kilda. Might have some ramifications for our trades where we're battling with the Saints.
No doubt trying to get picks for Treloar or Aish.

Thinking #24 for Freeman. Was #10 two years ago but has barely played any footy.

Pies go this and next year's first rounders for Treloar, so #7 and whatever, probably #13ish if they have a good run with injuries.

Thinking they then trade #24 and #26 to Brisbane for #Aish & #40.

Carlton then receive one of #21, #24 or #26 for Bell. I don't think it will matter too much to Brisbane as they will be using these picks for academy players. Lions might also have #19 as Leuey compo forcing these other picks down further.

Richmond want to secure an early 20s pick from Brisbane that they think will get the Yarran trade done. Time will tell on that score.

Better yet, we give them 22~ for Freeman, they give 7 and 22 for Treloar. Then they give Seedsman and maybe a pick for Aish.

Works well for me, I hate seafood so I always do the quick switcheroo.
Need a seafood option.....
HBF: We'll have the seafood platter for 2
MEB: HBF! You KNOW I hate seafood.
HBF: Oh, where is my mind? Of course.......Oh well, the waiter is gone now. I guess I have to eat the whole platter myself. This always happens for some reason....

Not to take anything away from Crippa, but this actually did cross my mind. Perhaps I am suspicious by nature but it seemed convenient for our great white hope to win by a single vote in the final round. Definitely gives the members something positive to hold on to over the off-season. Either way, my number 5 jumper is getting refreshed to a number 9 next year :D
Benign request to desist using racist 'great white hope' term.

Just have to point out all of the proposed moves this offseason.

If half of them come off, do we really look at our culture as being the reason or is this just free agency breaking the seal and this is forever more the way things are?
The actual answer lies in a bit of both I reckon.

Definitely racist beginnings. Probably used more as a white knight vs black knight, good vs evil type of context today, but I'm not even sure if that didn't start out of racist beginnings.

You start to realise just how much of our terminology comes from less than desirable circumstances, and we sort of take it for granted.

Well I probably won't be requesting it be added to the filter or chasing down such phrases or sanctioning people for using it innocently, but I do agree with your assessment of the phrase, and think a respectful educative stance is not a bad thing.

Great White Hope is a reference to boxing champion Jim Jeffries

Jeffries was a white boxer, extremely successful who retired prior to black fighters being permitted to fight white ones for the World championship. When Jack Johnson won the title, and beat all comers subsequently, the racist white class called out for a "great white hope" to defeat him.

Oh Jeffries lost that fight when he eventually took it.

A nice article from a favourite writer of mine:

#bluemour - our illustrious captain had a mega sook about not winning the B&F (shoot - don't know why I wrote Brownlow!)

Source - a WAG

Do I believe it? I was told look at his reaction on the screen when Crippa is on stage. Left players function early. Other players including VC went and congratsed the parents except the captain. Missus posted a comment to FB later then deleted it shortly after.

He didn't look all that congratulatory on stage but I wasn't there so all I can do is pass on a bluemour!
Watched it live and thought the exact same thing
