Also an upgrade in 2016 draft with dogs giving us their 3rd for our 4th, if I heard correctly :)

Unfortunately puff draggy, there may not be much difference between the two picks...

I think Everitt will play the Gunston role next year...same size if not taller. He only played forward for 3/4s of the year last year yet still finished with 31 goals.

I'll take the 50 odd points anyway, more points means more potential to get a trade done next year.

I'm also not sold on the 20/21 for 11 deal, will be interesting to see how that one turns out. Otherwise stoked.

Probably Walker's last season, may even be a guy who gets games when there is injuries, guys like Everitt probably pass him now. Will probably play forward. When your his age and struggling to get on the park things don't look good, will he even be on our list come 2016? Rowe will fill in when needed, he's not great, really poor hands and skills in general but will help out and fill a role which will come up regularly.

Contracted for 2017.

So currently as it stands:

Picks: 1,8,11,19,59,60

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-18/phantom-form-guide-update

Weitering, Weideman, Milera, Collins, SOSOS (on guide form only except SOSOS F/S)

My Preference is to sort the backline ASAP to become competitive. Freo/Swans have proven you do not need to be a high scoring team to win (ugly as the game style is). This will instil a touch of hardness/mongrelness (is that even a word), to restrict teams scoring ability. We usually bleed hard on rebounds/play switches/junk time goals.

So my draft opinions is as follows:

Weitering (Defender), Francis (Defender), Weiderman (Forward) , Collins (Defender)

Players in :

Kerridge (HFF/MID)

Phillips (Ruck)

Lamb (HFF/MID)

If we could jag a good midfielder in PSD I would be rapt .... SOS has done a great job with little time to settle in.

Don't get too excited there. 5 of the first 14 are academy players. We won't get anywhere near Francis, Weidering, ect...

Phantom draft order without academy players is as follows:
1. Weitering
2. Schache
3. Parish
4. Francis
5. Weideman
6. Curnow
7. Balic
8. Milera
9. Burton
10. Tucker
11. Mathieson
12. Ah Chee
13. Gresham
14. Collins
15. McKay
16. Dunkley (could be F/S by Swans)
17. Bonner
18. Oliver
19. Clarke
20. Hibberd

Kinda makes sense when you take this into account as to why clubs were ok to shift draft positions this year more so than previously, or buy into the 2016 draft. Have we seen this before where so many of the top 15 are academy boys?

How do the academy players change possible draft order of the rest?

No room in the top 20 for Rioli??

I like the look of Phillips. I think he could be our #1 ruck with Kreuzer backup and roaming around. I think he'll be given plenty of opportunity to prove himself. Playing Casboult as well might be too top heavy, though.

HF: Walker - Kreuzer - Daisy
FF: Sumner - Casboult - Everitt

Foll: Phillips - Cripps - Kerridge

There was a good example on the AFL site today or yesterday. It's a bit of a blur. Used Heeney as an example. Last year Melbourne nominated Heeney with its number 2 pick. Swans first pick was 18 which it used to draft Heeney. Heeney was then listed as number 18 selection. This year Swans effectively buy the 2 bid and draft Heeney at 2. With this scenario Melbourne's first pick would be 3. Effectively everybody moves down one. These bids will change the order of the draft as each one is completed. The draft order will resemble the arrivals and departures boards at the airport. I'll need to see it live to really appreciate it. Draft day will be different this year.

No worries, understood all that. Though people were suggesting that the non-academy players were somehow in danger of being picked early or out of the perceived order. Misunderstood.

Need to get a young tall. Lost Henderson, Giles and Watson. Have to replace the height. Harry McKay likely IMO.

Exactly. But for us pheasants without an academy... they need to be ignored. Francis, Weiders ect are out of reach IMO

I like the idea of Weitering and Collins playing key back together for the next 15 years. Plowman by their side and throw in a couple of Irish lads and its a good start to building that strong back 6.

Be surprised if we don't take Weitering at 1 but not sure who we might see at 8 and 11.

Anyone any thoughts on who we might be considering with our 2nd and 3rd draft selections?

Agree there is No way Weitering wont be our first pick. he is a clear number 1.

Weiderman at 8 (hoping), Curnow at 11, 19 anyone's guess.

I tend to believe the theory that GWS were happy to trade Tomlinson to us, but didn't want to endure have a public grilling/whingefest from Freo and Ross The Boss as to why they were happy to trade a still contracted KPP to us but not McCarthy to Freo.
We offered pick 11. They offer this year's second and next year's first. We offered a hell of a lot more for a lesser player

Heard on SEN today that Tom Boyd will be earning 1.5 Million Dollarydoos next season at The Dogs

That sums up all that's wrong with modern footy..
That is probably right. Because he was still in the first two years he was not allowed to be paid more than the standard AFL contract this season. The majority of his $7 million contract is paid in the last 6 years.
Madness.

It doesn't. However, the AFL website rankings includes them, so you need to take them out to be realistic.

Think you'll find it does.

If one of the GWS academy boys attracts a bid before pick 10, then GWS lose that pick in order to take him. You've got us with 8 and 11, when in reality we've got 8 and 10 because GWS's first pick will be used on Hopper/Kennedy.

Ditto for later picks - a bid on one of Brisbane's kids could knock out 2 or 3 later picks considering they've got nothing between 2 and 38.
