And if Thomas hadn't done his shoulder in the first few minutes of this season? If he had instead played 22 games this season, with a much greater fitness than last year. If he had started to recover from the lack of preseasons associated with his ankle injury and shown his former elite running ability? What would you say then? All of the above are possible had he not had dastardly bad luck. Then what you have just written is nothing more than a load of hogshit.

I think we'd still have to say he wasn't a good choice for a rebuilding side. I hope he comes back and smashes it. It's not his fault we are no good or that we signed him. We can still use it as a cautionary tale without beating up on the guy.

Club won't match
Doesn't need to. If Kreuzer doesn't accept our offer he's not the loyal guy he's pumped up to be on here. Fair to see he hasn't delivered onfield anywhere near what we had hoped, and what he still could. If the club has told him he's a required player and have made him an offer, it's piss poor form if he goes.

Seeing Kreuzer run around in black and white stripes would be one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen.

Yes, I know that he supported them as a youngster but he's Carlton now damn it.

Disagree.

In professional sports your career window is short. If the Pies are offering 4-years, 2 more than us, and at more money (multiple hundreds of thousands) then it wouldn't be difficult to understand and accept that he's being loyal to his family and his career than the Carlton Football Club.

Exactly how invested would you like us to get? Tell me, how invested are you emotionally right now in Patrick Cripps?

There was a lot of angry and upset St Kilda fans when they let Goddard go,but I think now, in hindsight, it was the correct decision by the club.

Jeffy was my favourite player for years, but I understand and accept the reasoning for letting him go.

Players have always had the chance of bigger contracts by jumping ship. Kreuz can get 4 years at Carlton, we're just asking him to earn it first.

Players are welcome to make monetary decisions, just don't think they're worthy of any sort of admiration. Certainly not when their output has been underwhelming as with Kreuz. Teams wouldn't have sustained success if all players had this attitude. I'll reserve judgement though until he makes a decision.

You avoided my question, DVB.

Seems the New Carlton is not bending to mangers will which is to get the most $$$ out of a club.
Kreuz is not worth a 4 year deal and not worth 700k a season, especially if we get pick 3 compensation.

2 year deal with a trigger for a 3rd would be good deal for 350 - 400k a season.

Not even close. Carlisle isn't a free agent. If Kruezer does leave, it looks as though we get pick 3
Is is close because the money

Doesn't matter if carlisle isnt a free agent. Rank and file supprters will see carlisle in for huge money, while kruezer is allowed to walk.

Today we'd look at that pic and say Hyphen needs a season in the twos and plenty of gym time before he is even considered for the main team. Truth was he was a star, opposition players were terrified of him and he toweled Brereton and won a Norm Smith looking exactly like that. Mind you he was also a heartless assassin.

Humph.......Heartless Assassin; he was just a little bit misunderstood.

Look obviously I am one of the biggest Paddy Cripps fans going around, but (and i realize this would never happen in a million years) if Melbourne offered us Hogan and Brayshaw in a trade for Cripps, I would do it in a heartbeat.

We can't afford to let sentiment cloud our judgement on making the right list management decisions.

Also it was before my time but surely Kreuzer leaving couldn't possibly be as bad/painful as Jezza finishing his career at St Kilda.

I don't like this new era of free agency and player and club disloyalty (both ways such as Brisbane shafting Adcock) but its a harsh reality we have to get used to I'm afraid
